“Go Speed Racer Go”, the only salvageable part from the live action Speed Racer movie.

Gangsta’s Paradise by Coolio (feat. L.V.)
It was originally written for a movie called Dangerous Minds. I’m not an expert on Hip Hop, but I’d say it has definitely made it’s place among the best in the genre.
Also, it’s heavily by Stevie Wonder’s Pastime Paradise.

Armageddon was a pretty big summer flick at the time but Aerosmith and John Denver were still more famous I think

Flashdance had two songs (“what a feeling” and “maniac”) that everyone knows even if they haven’t seen the movie.
I watched that for the first time earlier this month. I was NOT expecting what it actually was.
I thought it was just at most like a concept album film, but way more likely to just have her as the soundtrack to a bad movie with a silly and relatable “fuck up your boss” theme.
Now I know she was respected for her vocalized beliefs and inclusion, but I really didn’t think it would go that hard. I was blown away.
Plus I was pretty high when I watched it, and some of those scenes were trippy af. It was a good day.

I also really liked Straight Talk. We watched all her movies after she passed and even though it had poor reviews I actually liked it a lot
Yeah it’s a trip! Not many movies would spend 15 minutes on a weed-infused dream sequence

1 dayImho, the pacing of that movie was pretty rough. I know my attention span is fucked these days, but when I watch other movies from the late 70’s / early 80’s, 9 to 5 drags hard by comparison.
It did well at the box office, but I get why modern audiences don’t go back to it often. The direction feels really dated.
Was it only 15 minutes? High me remembers it as bring in one big dose, then just lil sporadic bursts the rest of the time.
I have a weekly “get high and watch a movie (a mix of “whatever strikes our fancy at the moment”, or “missed out on when it came out because we were raised super Christian”, with a healthy dose of “pride-related movies”) and then watch a few episodes of whatever tv show we’re working on” day, so I can confidently say that being stupid high is the best way to watch stuff. Even if we do miss a lot of context and plot from talking about tangentially-related stuff the whole time.
Good times.
This coming month will probably be horror movies (obvz), and I’ve already picked a movie that actually did scare the absolute shit out of me as a kid, and the memory still has some trauma attached to it for me, but I’m hate-watching it to maybe help heal my poor childhood memory.
And what is it? It would be “Thief in the Night”, made in the 70s. Basically a Christian rapture themed movie. I have almost no specific memory of any of the scenes (I saw it when I was a single digit age), but I feel like there was someone who thought they were “saved” and didn’t make it or something. That idea and the song on the end credits I forget the exact title now but I assume it’s “I wish we’d all been ready” as that line is prominent in the chorus. The idea that someone could think they were saved but not really be (and the fact that all the adults around me didn’t seem to have any concern about it) made me feel very, VERY insecure about it, and was probably the first of many, many cracks that finally led to me figuring it out way later.
I spent the next 20ish years “praying the prayer” several times every time I thought about that song, just to make sure. It is definitely the source of a lot of anxiety for me, and probably the scariest scary movie I’ve ever seen.
Coming back to it now, over 3 decades later, taking a victory lap on it, while using extremely non Christian friendly language and being high af, will be a real healing moment for me I think.
But I’ll keep a spot open later this year to watch the whorehouse movie (😂).

Id say Lose Yourself by Eminem. Maybe because I was too young to watch the movie when it came out, but that song was everywhere, and is still popular today

Im going to assume you are just being comparative, and saying that the song is just so good that no movie could be better.
Because otherwise you would be insinuating that flash Gordon is a bad movie. And we dont tolerate that kind of heresy

2 daysYeah, if only because Flash—Ahhhaaahhaaa—is the savior of the universe. You know, that Flash—Ahhhaaahhaaa—he’ll save every one of us.

I’m not saying Flash Gordon is a bad movie, just that it would be the height of blasphemy to even suggest that any mere movie could approach the greatness of Her Majesty, Queen.

Kiss From a Rose by Seal. I couldn’t even tell you what the plot of Batman Forever was.

Ace Ventura teams up with the cop from The Fugitive, so Iceman has to team up with that guy from NCIS:LA to defeat them
Joel Schumacher of all people. To follow Tim Burton. That’s like hiring Dean Koontz to finish George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series (Game of Thrones), or to pick up an unfinished Neil Gaiman series.
Ironically it’s Tim Burtons fault it went to Schumacher after his self indulgence with Returns. If he’d matched the tone of the 1989 movie (wildly successful) it could easily have been another hit.
That whole situation leads me to the unpopular opinion that the 1989 Batman was as good as it was because of Burton, yes, but importantly the other creatives and producers.
Yeah, I’m surprised to learn it still has a strong following. It was too pantomimish for me, but I made my own fan edit that’s about 45 minutes shorter and I find that more watchable. Different strokes, etc.

I haven’t watched it recently but i really related to Catwoman 's arc, how it was kind of like an insanity and compulsion
Michelle Pfeiffer is absolutely amazing. The range she has as an actor is unreal and I genuinely believe I am watching someone lose their mind when I watch that movie.

He was a good director though. It’s just that he wanted to do Batman with nipple armour.

Batman Forever is tied with The Dark Knight as the Best Batman Movie Ever. It’s perfect. They might be in my book as The Best Superhero Movies Ever.
I’m not a superhero movie fan.
Batman Forever fucks, tho.

Axel F - Harold Faltmeyer (“Beverly Hills Cop” title)
The movies were super popular, but the title music became chart topping, and basically turned into the archetypical sound of the 80’s
The way I look at it, K-Pop Demon Hunters is a musical.
Which means the songs aren’t bigger than the movie.
Because the songs ARE the movie :)
St. Elmos Fire. It’s a one hit wonder, but the movie it was written for was typical 1980s “friends with issues” pablum. The kind that was better written and acted in a dozen other movies.
