Accused of stealing 20 dollars worth of diapers? Death penalty without trial for you and the occupants of your vehicle.

Also, you want the footage that your tax dollars paid for? Fuck you.

    • That’s one thing, another question is, what kind of society we are living in where a mother is forced to steal diapers?

I also see stores that put baby formulas behind lock.

Those are not some luxurious items, those things people would only steal if they had no other choice.

    • ++downvote shield

Technical correction: She’s accused of driving her vehicle towards officers, which they used to justify the shooting.

Disclaimer: I am not saying the shooting was justified. I know nothing about where the officers were or how she was driving.

  • Wow so the extraducial execution of innocent babies is justified for the petty crime of shoplifting in Mississippi? That is fuckin crazy. The attorney general is a demonic souless hag.

  • 17 days

in what SHIT HOLE country do ‘cops’ draw weapons for stolen diapers?!?!

the diapers were insured with loss prevention, deadly force was NOT justified.

    BLACK LIVES MATTER

    • 17 days

Exactly my thought process, especially since they haven’t produced any evidence of shoplifting and the cop shot a kid

    • 16 days

Also, if you steal diapers and nothing else then maybe, JUST MAYBE you probably just can’t afford them despite them being rather essential in raising a child. Which doesn’t make it a non-crime, but it’s probably a sign that you’re actually in need.

And here I was thinking that raping kids, evading tax and making your country the lapdog of Russia should be punished more severely than stealing diapers out of necessity.

    • 17 days

To bad they dont vote. They could have Texas lousiana and Mississippi purple or blue if they’d vote, but they don’t and don’t care too. Fuck kamala they said. No one even has to pander to them on either side. Because whats the point, they don’t vote anyways.

They’re out there shooting their kids over a thing of diapers and they don’t care.

  • Murdering a mother and baby over a package of diapers.

The Boomers couldn’t let it go and passed it on. Greatest generation my ass

Just a heads up, that’s not another term for Baby Boomer and has never been associated with them. The Greatest Generation were born between 1901 and 1927. Boomers were born between 1946 and 1964. And there’s an entire generation, appropriately called the Silent Generation, separating them.

      • Yeah, this is Mississippi police killing 2 a black people person. Unfortunately that’s nothing new, but it’s still something to be angry about

    • 17 days

Buddy, this is as American as apple pie, lmao. Where do you think the police came from? They used to be slave catchers!

    • We’ve been killing black babies longer than Trump’s been around but yeah, I’m not keen on the mask coming fully off. It’s gonna get loud in here.

  • 17 days

America is crazy. A women does shoplifting and officers shoot at her? I don’t know if you guys know how insane your country is.

Dont you have some law that officers only can use deadly force when their life or someone else’s life is in danger?

    • Not just shoplifting but literally stole a pack of diapers. People don’t steal diapers for fun, that’s obviously someone who was out of options, and took the only option left to her

Edit to add: apparently she didn’t even steal the diapers! Some customer said they thought she did and she didn’t have the receipt (because who grabs the receipt when they go and buy a single consumable item?)

      • 17 days

Shops are also insured so it doesn’t even affect the owner. Some super rich insurance company gets to pay for a new pack of diapers.

Compare this with what’s going on in France, where thousands of immigrants are rioting and burning down stores and cars. Millions of dollars in damage. The police there still just use tear gas and rubber bullets and haven’t killed anyone.

America is in its own league of police brutality.

          • 17 days

I dont watch TV news at all, but ive watched YouTube videos from the riots filmed by ordinary people. That’s probably as close to the truth you can get without being there.

            • 16 days

As some late night host said (Stewart?): do you think immigrants are the ones who are rioting IN FRANCE?

Let me give you a hint: one of the places they rioted was the Bastille square.

              • 16 days

Videos show black men with red, white, green flags so yes, it’s not the native French. :)

                Of course it’s immigrants.

                • 16 days

Have you seen the French national team? Judging people by their skin color is… how do you call it…

    • She was also driving in the direction of the police officers. What else were they supposed to do? Stand out of they way? Not shoot a one year old child?

      • We haven’t seen the body warn yet, but the issue is why is shooting at her automatically justified in this context? Driving at officers or not. Why did officers put themselves in the position to be driven at, why not just tail her and pull her over, why not get her registration and go to her address. There are far more alternative options than (as seems to the standard) going for maximum force first.

        • 17 days

why is shooting at her automatically justified

The cop saw her holding up a baby. He was shooting at the baby.

Presumably this was justifiable self defense because the baby was the reason the mother needed diapers and if she hadn’t needed diapers the cop would not be fearing for his life at that moment

            • We are being very sarcastic, the disassociation helps me process a tragedy like this. There is absolutely no context that would make this justifiable, the fact that a judge still deemed it so shakes me to my core.

        • 16 days

Tailing people ends up in high showed chases and kills others, not really an option.

    • 17 days

Surely you are not only thinking now, that America is crazy, right? I mean, they legit elected a fucking child rapist to be their president. Only in America™, ladies and gentlemen.

    • Freedom to the fullest, especially to exploit.

In the Land of The Free, you are obligated to kneel before your betters.

    • A women does shoplifting and officers shoot at her?

Cops love to shoot people. You barely need to give them justification.

    • Dont you have some law that officers only can use deadly force when their life or someone else’s life is in danger?

      Qualified Immunity

Im sure a bootlicker like you will absolutely adore the concept.if only the police in France could just murder who they want… right? Then the cost of living crisis will be resolved and the schools will be fully funded.

      • 16 days

Thanks but I dont see how I’m a bootlicker for thinking it’s awful how police shoots someone?

    • 17 days

I blame the liberal gun laws. Because everyone potentially could be armed police officers constantly feel life threatened.

      • That’s no excuse.

Soldiers being sent into literal combat against enemy troops have rules of engagement that don’t allow them to fire unless fired upon. Why do police dealing with civilians have less-strict rules of engagement?

        • 17 days

Not to mention other countries also having crime, and criminals with guns. They don’t use their weapons against people who are not a danger to anyone.

The mentality in America is difficult to understand from the outside. It’s very evil.

          • It’s difficult from the inside too.

The problem is people here are used to it being “the way things are” so they don’t go through the mental exercise of trying to understand it. It’s seen as perfectly normal, so it’s never questioned.

In the US the sky is blue, water is wet, and police are assumed to have been justified any time they kill someone.

  • 17 days

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, which investigated the shooting, alleged on the day of the shooting that “the driver drove in the direction of the officers, almost striking one.”

As of press time, the Mississippi Department of Public Safety has released none of the video surveillance of the shooting of Kohen Wiley, neither the body-cam footage nor the overhead video from the Walmart parking lot where Wiley was shot. A short clip from a bystander was posted on the internet shortly after the shooting, showing neither the shots being fired nor the car driving towards officers.

    • Don’t forget:

Neither woman has been charged with a crime, and officials have not released any evidence of shoplifting.

      • I bet this was the result of “can I see your receipt?” “No.”

    • almost striking one.

But… not … was she coming around for another pass? They had her fucking plates, just go pick her up at her house afterwards if she runs. This isn’t a situation that requires firearms.

      • 17 days

I’d take it a step further in that diapers should be free anyways.

        • 17 days

Cloth diapers maybe. Disposable diapers are a plastic blight on our planet.

          • Congratulations. You are now responsible for buying everyone a washer, dryer, spray nozzle toilet attachment, and the maintenance thereof. You will also be responsible for a portion of their work in lieu of the time spent.

            Check your privilege.

Signed, two kids that had cloth diapers.

            • The fuck? You can wash them by hand without any of that shit.

Signed: A parent who used cloth diapers and never put shit diapers in a washing machine.

            • 17 days

You definitely don’t need all that. Cloth diapers predate modern in-home washing machines. I had the “privilege” of being poor and raised in cloth diapers, back when food stamps were paper instead of a debit account, and if my parents could manage it there’s nothing stopping people today.

Also, what a stupid position. “How dare you suggest people take some responsibility for their waste instead of choosing the most convenient, selfish option at every turn! Don’t you know the world was invented five years ago and old-fashioned sustainable solutions literally don’t exist?”

    • 17 days

And they knew there was a baby in the car, and there has been no evidence released to indicate shoplifting of diapers in the first place. The murderer (cop, just to be crystal clear) should be in prison. This sounds like a total shitshow from the moment the cops were called

  • Thank GOD the Child was ONE YEARS OLD Instead of a Fetus! THAT would have been a Tragedy!

    -LITERALLY Pro Life Republicans!

  • Ok what the actual fuck has to be wrong with you such that you think that sequence of words is a reasonable thing to say? Jesus fuck.

  • 17 days

In civilized countries, police officers are smart enough to just get out of the way of such a car, and deal with it later without shooting.

    • And miss the chance to shoot an innocent black person? I don’t think so!

      • This is the same police station whose chief was just fired last month, for, get this, extremely vile racism.

Just a wild coincidence, I’m sure. Also just a wild coincidence that the racist chief of police didnt punish the child murder when he was caught being racist:

Since Vanderford took over as chief, Foster has separately faced at least two complaints that he used racially offensive language with co-workers, Mississippi Today reported in July and August. In the months leading up to the shooting, Foster referred to a Black officer as a “Black motherfucker” and directed another derogatory remark toward a white co-worker who has a daughter with a Black woman, according to internal department complaints.

There’s no indication that Vanderford took any disciplinary action against Foster, who was allowed to remain on patrol.

  • This was in response to shoplifting!? SHOPLIFTING!?

I guess that was on me for assuming the context would make this better and not 100 times worse.

    • But, didn’t you read? The officers said that the car may have went in their general direction.

Stolen diapers for the one year old that the police slaughtered is justified to kill a black person.

God I fucking hate this world.

FFVII Revelation is coming. I’m stealing the black fucking materia and calling meteor myself

    • No this was the response because she was black and shoplifting. It was 100% a race thing.

  • 17 days

had stolen a pack of diapers. The women exited the store with the child as officers arrived, entered their vehicle and began to leave the parking lot. Officers drew their weapons, and Vellesiya Wiley lifted her son up to show the officers that a child was in the car. One officer fired into the vehicle, killing the baby as she held him.

stealing diapers or bread, should be a lesser crime, than stealing jewelry or clothing. Neither should justify shooting when running/driving away. If they put their hands up holding a baby, they are unlikely driving super fast, and may in fact doing step 1 of surrendering.

Even if a diaper thief were to use a hostage as human shield, shooting is only legally justified in Israel, where hannibal directive extended to civilians is part of their non-negotiation hatred towards the “palestinian problem”, and where Mississippi has and may still view violent oppression as the preferred “solution” to their racial tensions.

    • 17 days

Any kind of stealing. I don’t care if they stole a diamond or the Mona Lisa, that doesn’t deserve the death penalty, much less an extrajudicial killing.

But as the other 49 say: thank God for Mississippi. And as the other 190 say: what the fuck is happening over there?

      • 17 days

This world is ripe for an uprising against the ruling class and their bootlickers. The problem is getting everyone to agree on what they want.

I just have a constant pit in my stomach, knowing every day the constant thoughts in my mind egging me into impulsive action may one day lead me to do something that in the end will just be used as “moral” fodder against neighbors and people I care about.

But truly, when is enough, enough?

        • 16 days

This world? Have you seen the French like every other year? Hungarians?

It’s mostly americans that just complain online and do nothing. Ice kills people on the street? My boss won’t let me protest. The president steals a few billions? That doesn’t affect me. A new war doubles the price of gas and sends groceries through the roof? Oh, DC is too far away…

            • 16 days

The distance from Mombasa to Bangkok is 4500 miles. Which is equally irrelevant for protesting against literal murder.

      • Folks like to pretend Mississippi is the exemption. The bitter truth is that they’re just more naked in their cruelty.

We’re seeing Italy and France dissolve into police riots and neoliberal poverty just on the other side of the pond. We saw the same in Baltimore and St. Louis not that long ago.

      • The only possible reason to shoot a thief imo is if they perhaps stole firearms or explosives, as one could reason they are stealing them imwkth I tent to cause great harm. But fucking diapers? Hell a car? It’s just stuff 🫪 not to mention these stores all have theft insurance anyways!! Or it’s been accounted for (see inventory “shrink”)

      • 17 days

I often find myself sharing similar thoughts when reading comments that seem reasonable at first, but go off the deep end.

      • 16 days

The Hannibal directive, is an official IDF protocol to kill captured soldiers. Oct 7th reaction included both mass shooting through civilian hostages on the day, and Helicopter mass firing on anyone running at the music festival. The genocidal bombing campaign that followed was specifically to avoid negotiations by exterminating hostages too.

So, your “tinfoil hat hasbara” bs disgustingly masks a far worse/extreme Israeli attitude towads “palestinian problem” than Mississipi’s historical attitudes towards “dealing with the negro problem”, which is if you lynch a few regardless of any guilt, it will teach the rest of them to stay in line.

        • No man, the problem is that you brought something completely unrelated to the post up. The complete blindside of a transition from one subject to the next in a completely unhinged manner is the “tinfoil hat” I’m referring to.

          • 16 days

Don’t shoot when a human shield is being used is police training in most places. The transition is hateful supremacist cultures get “government justification” for it.
