Fun fact most “medieval” torture devices were invented much later in history
- 2 days
True. It’s amazing what they could do with a bit of rope and some sticks. Thumbscrews were the most technical thing.
Even torture itself was only employed in trials very late in the middle ages. It was quite a step forward from trial by ordeal or reputation.

As bad as everyone thinks it is, this is one of the most peaceful times for humans. You’re just bombarded with news 24/7 of how shitty the world is. Can you imagine if it was like WW2, the world powers are CAROET BOMBING major cities. You think a stray missile hitting a school of 150 kids is bad/evil? Lol, try dropping thousands of tons of dumb bombs a day hoping you hit something important. Entire cities were leveled.
- 2 days
And if that wasn’t enough, a significant portion of bombs had a time delay trigger. They’d only explode once people left the bunkers an hour or 2 days after the bombing. However that delay was caused by a chemical reaction which pften failed, meaning a lot of the bombs are undetonated but active even now some 80 years later.

This is why I have a very weird feeling inside when someone says X is worse than Nazis. Boy, nothing in modern age stands close to actual nazis and what they did. And before you say Israel - it’s essentially a local conflict with 0.01% of the deaths in comparison. Even Ukraine war is much more deadly, and not even Russia stands close.
EDIT: The fact that this got a downvote… wish I could see who so I can add a tag “Nazis horrors denier”

Look, I remember the “good old days“. It was 1994, and I was doing my best to pirate Adobe Photoshop 2.5 so that I could make fake IDs and print them out on my new-fangled Canon “BubbleJet” 250C printer.
The early 90s… The “digital age”…, New York State was the first to make “digital ID cards“ and they were crap. Extremely easy to make fake ones, and I did — for years.
It was a while before New York State finally started producing ID cards and drivers license licenses that weren’t garbage. But those early days… I made some good bank making fakes. It was very very easy.

Omg, yeah, right about the same time, lol
My first encounter with Linux was spending almost 3 days downloading the source code for Red Hat 2.0 and then spending another two or three days compiling that shit into 9-13 floppy images. Then trying to install it.
Then, a few months later, red hat 2.5 comes out with pre-compiled binaries. I was so fucking pissed…

How else were they going to sell flex tape? By sawing a boat in half? Get real.

Imagine trying to start the cut without the saw blade slipping off. F that.

No, I mean the old, old days.
Like in ancient China where they would flay you alive and let you slowly die of

___hypothermia in most cases, believe it or not. Without your skin to insulate you, it only takes about 30 minutes. However, without your skin, I’m sure it feels like much longer.
- 2 days
That doesn’t sound plausible. I’d guess blood loss or infection would kill you. Unless it was - 40 outside, but then having skin wouldn’t have saved you…
- 2 days
Infection? Not the traumatic brain injury? The couple days afterwards infection…

This isn’t punishment, it’s medieval mental health care. Oh, you have a headache? We have to let the spirits out. Johann, help me with the saw will you.
Hm? Oh, nothing to worry about. I’ve done this plenty of times, and never had a single complaint.

It’s probably a funny depiction of trepination, right?
The drilling, sawing or scraping of holes in the skull is one of the earliest medical procedures we have evidence for. It relieves pressure and brain swelling. As gruesome as it sounds, it was quite survivable and people survived multiple trepinations deep into prehistory.
Once you get hospitals in the medieval period the survival rate drops - don’t be in a room of sick people when your skull has a hole in it.

Cool! Yeah the depictions there look more realistic than this unbound guy just chilling as he is executed.

3 daysHa, I wish they’d saw me in half starting with me skull! I’m going on the breaking wheel tomorrow, you lucky bastard! Lucky, lucky, lucky bastard.
