Turd Ferguson. Again.

Turd Ferguson. Again.

I don’t live in Chicago, but I work there a lot and have for many years. I love Chicago. People are friendly, it is an active city, it is an interesting blend of old and new. I haven’t run across the douchenozzle vibes that I endured when I worked in NYC and gross ass new jersey. Most people from Chicago have a lovely sense of self. They’re cool if you are. It isn’t perfect and winter is.pretty rough, but there is a lot to like.
I have only been one time, but I really liked Denver. Same friendly vibe as Chicago, mountains are stunning, city is fun, walkable, feels like a very active population.

(let them waste their money maybe they will go away)
Damn, i bought a quarter zip and a vest. WTF.

I’m not going to say it’s brilliant, but if they can stick computers out there that get unlimited free solar power and free cooling courtesy of the icy death vacuum of space, is it really that bad?
If they could make it operational and scale, no more fucking stupid terrestrial data centers eating water and power here. Let them try it. They got plenty of money.

Otter.
Yes, I know it would bite the shit out of me, but they’re so cute.

Y’all need Firefox + ublock and a different search engine. I havent seen an ad since 2007.
Omg I would buy so many condoms just to make the machine say it.
Please place your CONDOMS in the bagging area. Please place your PERSONAL LUBRICANT in the bagging area. Please place your CUCUMBER on the scale. Please place your BANANA on the scale. Please place your BLACK DILDO in the bagging area.

I mean, don’t put it on the network. Now it is dumb again. Mostly. Probably not, ok fine, so just don’t buy one with that shit in it.

The reality is that these tools are not going away. Thinking that will happen is not realistic.
They’re part of the deal now. People who refuse to use them will simply become obsolete. It starts in technology, but it will quickly move around.
Thinking you can just avoid it isn’t practical. It is no different from cars displacing horses and computers displacing typewriters.
Think of how absurd it would sound if you came across someone who refuses to use a computer and only a typewriter.

I was listening to live ATC broadcast this evening for O’Hare ground control.
Jesus tapdancing Christ, no idea how they do it.
All you hear is a steady stream of instructions like “j1234, approach 10L and hold, then sierra sierra golf tango tango alpha” which are “directions” for pilots to taxi to a gate.
They are ripping them off at hyperspeed, no mistakes. The audio quality of some pilots is just terrible but somehow they know wtf they said. They have dozens of planes on the ground at a time, organizing the chaos of them all without blinking. In the hour I listened, I heard one dude doing it all, though I think there are two different ground controllers.
Planes blocking taxiways, pilots misunderstanding instructions, someone is taking too long to push back from the gate and they’re making changes and adapting on the fly.
Holy shit y’all.
Listen for yourself and try to figure it out. Audio: https://www.liveatc.net/play/kord1n2_gnd_in.pls Ground mapd: https://www.flightaware.com/resources/airport/ORD/APD/AIRPORT+DIAGRAM/pdf
Good luck.
Nothing to lose for trying.
