George bush is responsible for more then 2 million deaths, and you fucking freaks are painting this as a good thing? What the fuck
Next president will murder a billion and you will be “remember trump, wasn’t so bad!”
- 3 days
Remember when we thought the top one was the worst we’d ever get?
Good times….
The scary part is that whomever the next Republican President is, he’ll make Trump look good in comparison.
It’s going to get worse before it gets worse.

Thinking abstaining from golf is empathetic is a bigger insult than the other commenters think.
- 3 days
It’s not about that. It’s about how one of the most incompetent presidents we’ve ever had had some level of decency and the gravity of the situation for our country. The current loser in chief does not actually care about the troops or the country for that matter.
- 3 days
I need you to stop using Google to answer your questions and start with a bit of critical thinking. Trumps death toll is close to 1 million if not more. Covid was 100% his fault. Every single death in Iran and Israel is his fault. I would attribute attribute a portion of deaths in Ukraine and Russia to him has well. His absolutely atrocious foreign policy caused those wars and his dismantling of the CDC and WHO caused the Covid death toll to be so high. He caused god knows how many deaths due to dismantling USAID as well. Add to that the number of Americans killed by DHS. We also need to add all the immigrants he killed in their concentration camps. That also ignores the people that weren’t killed but raped, tortured, and abused or illegally imprisoned. Bush was not a good president but his shortcomings pale in comparison to the shitshow that is going on right now.
Your name is so on the nose for trolling, it made me snort. So only the good troll factories were demolished, or are you Chinese?

Stop normalizing Bush. Remember when they gave Obama a Nobel Peace Prize just for not being him?
I didn’t spend my teenage years going fucking insane in Bush country to have this stupid, criminal motherfucker held up as some example of decency.
- 4 days
I agree. I was there… But I feel like these posts aren’t trying to make bush seem “good” or “normal”. More they’re showing just how much of a piece of shit Trump is. Not that that should be necessary.
Like if Bush seems like a good dude next to you, you’re seriously fucked

Exactly, when you make effing Bush look good, you are -insert new word for really bad and horrible here-

It’s just proof that whenever you think conservatives have found the bottom of the barrel, they keep digging.

The barrel has been dug through. It is now a tube, and conservatives are currently digging an empire-sized grave beneath it.

Yeah suddenly a saint because he had the decency to not play golf during a war of invasion based of lies.
Yeah, nobody is saying that. It’s just a juxtaposition of how much Trump sucks when the previous winner of worst president ever looks good in comparison.
George Washington ripped the teeth out of his slaves mouth to make dentures for himself. It’s not really like a recent thing that presidents are evil pieces of shit. That’s been the rule since the start.
That was over 250 years ago. This is a meme about recent history, not history none of us were around to witness.
My mistake, didn’t realize you were a .ml user. It all makes sense now.
- Random Dent@lemmy.mlEnglish3 days
A war that he was responsible for and could have ended at any time if he gave two fucks about the lives of anyone involved, which he didn’t.
Fuck that war criminal. The only acceptable reason he should have had for not golfing would be that he was in the Hague.

I dunno, says a lot when Bush has the moral highground lol
Bush is in the bottom 4 with Andrew Johnson and Buchanon, but we all know who is the objective worse.
Granted W. was a lot like Justin Trudeau, he was there, he did silly interviews but ultimately never did shit and let others call all the shots.

Trump cares about optics, that’s why all our news channels are owned by his friends.
- ParlimentOfDoom@piefed.zipEnglish4 days
He cares about praise, not optics. And won’t change his behavior to achieve that, just yell at people until they either do or he tucks tail and picks a new target. But of a difference.

Man it’s wild that even W Bush had more decency than Trump, and he was terrible
I remember thinking that 'Murica could not sink any lower
Oh, how I laugh now…
I’m not sure I’m ready for what’s coming the next time around. Probably some manosphere influencer way into eugenics. Yay.
Probably not, whoever it is will make Hegseth look reasonable and professional in comparison.
I would like to see the minority of decent people get out, burn the rest, and then allow the indigenous Americans to do what they will with the place, with support from the rest of the world and safeguards to stop this shit happening again
This is juxtaposition, not apologia. There is a scale of awful, and Dubya is objectively on the lesser side relative to the Paedophile President, seditious traitor and inarticulate pissboy that he is. There is no section of the constitution that I know of which he hasn’t violated. Dubya was many of the things which the traitor-in-chief is, and that makes the juxtaposition all the more apt. If they were supposed to be comparing a good president, they’d have picked FDR. Instead, they picked one who was generally considered one of the worst until that point to show that, even when you think you’ve scraped the bottom, someone can still manage to break the bottom of the barrel and scrape the mouldering, fetid carcass of a plague rat off the floor below.
DarkFuture@lemmy.worldEnglish
4 daysDubya was bad, but Trump literally normalized treason.
As you said, he’s essentially betrayed the Constitution in every aspect and yet…
Hurts to say out loud, but treason has been normalized in the United States. And it was conservatives (regressives) and their love for bigotry that did it.

How are they going to go lower than Trump, though? They would have to find someone who physically tortures and kills people in public. Some kind of Mad Max-like supervillain. It’s gonna be so retro!

ICE already kills people in public.
He wants to televise an execution.

Trumps successor starts nuking countries around the world. That’s probably lower.
He’s certainly not the good guy, but it was definitely a wild time when you thought he was the dumbest president we’ve ever had, with Cheney giving himself no-bid contracts to enrich himself during that war was peak corruption.

What I come back to when compairing Trump and GWB is that GWB at least seemed to respect the office, Trump shows utter contempt towards it.
- ikidd@lemmy.dbzer0.comEnglish4 days
Bush had a modicum of shame and respect for lawfulness. And I don’t think you could accuse him of corruption, despite his many other faults.
There just hasn’t been anyone as manifestly unsuitable for the office as Trump. It will be decades before there’s any respect given to the Presidency after this.

Do you actually remember the bush presidency? Shameless lying, illegal invasions, and corruption were his entire legacy.

- DagwoodIII@piefed.socialEnglish4 days
The really amazing thing about Trump is that I literally can’t find one good thing to say about him. Hitler showed personal bravery in WW1. Stalin was a bank robber. Mao led his troops into battle. No one is saying those guys were anything but monsters, but they had qualities you could respect.
Even comic book villains display some admirable qualities, even if it’s only style.
Trump embodies all Seven Deadly Sins, and has invented a few new ones.

He stopped after October 2003 until the end of his presidency.
George W. Bush still tortured and sent PMCs to massacre entire villages. He is not redeemable.

Can we not “lesser evil” the guy whose policies made someone like trump inevitable?
- tiny_hedgehog@piefed.socialEnglish4 days
Sure. This is a very fair point. I just love the song Mosh Pit by Eminem, in which he says how bad Bush is. And I say to him, “Marshall, just wait. It gets worse.”
Bush 2 is a direct line to trump. From courting the evangelicals and bringing their supply side Jesus to the front to legitimizing stubbornness and agressive ignorance as quality in a presidency. He ran on not skill, competence, and education, but “who do you want your drinking buddy to be?” Literally. If you were around when he ran the unofficial question was “who would you rather have a beer with?” Hence the news paying attention to Obama’s occasional beer, and Obama having a drink with whomever.
Bush mashed the accelerator pedal on all the things needed to make it easier for the far right to swoop in and take over.
- the_crotch@sh.itjust.worksEnglish4 days
And for those who believe the Democrats are going to swoop in and save us, I point to Obama who did nothing of the sort and spent 8 years just kind of being an additional 2 bush terms.

Sure. Bush was a horrible piece of shit… But compared to Trump, he at least pretended to be decent, which isn’t saying a lot, and saying he wasn’t as bad as the current President isn’t really defending him, either
- the_crotch@sh.itjust.worksEnglish3 days
Stage 1 cancer isn’t as bad as stage 4 cancer. But without stage 1, there wouldn’t be a stage 4, so it’s weird to defend stage 1 and reminisce about how much better it was.
- 3 days
Except nobody is defending anything. It’s perfectly valid to say “wow, remember how much stage 1 cancer sucked? Stage 4 sucks even worse than that.”
It’s kind of weird that you think any comments that aren’t just constant, overt condemnation are ‘defending’ or reminiscing about the good ol’ days
- infinitesunrise@slrpnk.netEnglish4 days
He was worse than people remember. I was old enough to vote against him and expirience how much American society regressed under his militarized evangelical shell game. It took the institutional deterioration of Dubya’s terms to make a Trump presidency even possible. A lot of people here aren’t even old enough to remember, some weren’t even born.
