  • Yeah, no one is going to go out of their way to buy an album by suno. No one is going to buy tickets to see two server racks on stage. Just sitting there with AI hallucinations flickering on a screen behind them. Even if I happen to find some of the sounds they produce appealing.

Every time I discover a seemingly new artist with an intriguing sound. The moment I find out that it’s some dumbasses “solo” project realized through AI. They’re blacklisted forever. Go download a DAW and at least put in the basic effort.

Anything generated, no matter how appealing it might seem in the moment. Is ultimately disposable trash. If it wasn’t authored and crafted with deep intentionality by someone you might identity or connect with. It won’t last and no one will care about it. People don’t listen to groups like joy division just for the sound of it. But because of the explicit creativity and brutal emotion. 50 years on and they are still relevant at least to other artists. Could even the same be said of Britney Spears, who hasn’t been around as long and is still alive where Ian is long dead? What chance does a parroting simulacrum have?

  • I am an enemy of the state in general. All states. Authoritarianism 100% exists. Though I get it. You have a different taste in boots. Authoritarianism of course can’t exist without the state. And the state once it’s achieved a significant size inevitably Trends toward authoritarianism. But they aren’t the same thing that’s just silly. Though if you can explain how a governing state built on something like total/absolute consent is authoritarian/oppressive, I’m all ears.

  • I can’t do GNOME. I’ve tried multiple times over the last25 years. I am well past the point where I do heavy wild customizations to KDE etc. Some colored window decorations to make it easier to find the buttons. Change icons and pointers. Monolith MHL in the background. And a little jiggle physics. Some of that GNOME can do, but it will often fight you over it. For myself plasma just has less friction, literally and figuratively. Though to be honest I’m not familiar with the friction coefficient of a gnome.

I’ve heard some say the restrictiveness of GNOME makes them more productive. Poor bastards.

  • Authoritarianism. It has no strong preference for left or right. Wherever there’s a strong man. You will have the people that think the strong man protects them and serves them. Even as he serves himself. And the people who are being tread on.

  • To the reactionary / conservative mind communism just means enemy. And they have no actual concept of what the word means. In no small part thanks to the countries like China and Russia misusing it for decades and decades.

But now that China is powerful capitalist Nation. With a strong man whom our strong man pathetically sucks up too. They’re kind of into it. And the only time you see them complain about Chinese communist. Is when the pavlovian term slips out naturally in a string of slurs as they speak. It was a dog whistle they were trained to bark at for decades if not Generations. So it’s hard to give up old habits.
