Boycott Russia yes but maybe the oil could go to Cuba since the US has blockaded them so badly?
- BradleyUffner@lemmy.worldEnglish14 hours
Huh, that’s odd. I wonder what could have happened recently that would have caused that.
- Gammelfisch@lemmy.worldEnglish18 hours
Vlad will make his Orange Pedo Sock Puppet pay for the fuel wasted on those tankers. I wonder if Audi will continue with their plan to build a new factory in the USA.

1 dayAfter yesterday, this prez admin has no incetive to spend time and money to placate the masses in any way, real or fake. Instead their interest lays in grifting as much as possible in the time they have left, and hurting Americans as much as possible because the pain will be ascribed to the democrats. So there was likely a phone call to Moscow - “Turn the diesel back.”
- Shindo66@lemmy.worldEnglish17 hours
I think it’s even more than that. People can indicted. Not just Trump. All of them. Crimes are going to be prosecuted. Theres something big going on and it’s not going to be just trump stealing money. They dont want to lose a war or go to prison. That includes the whole trump family and putin with his war as well.
Avid Amoeba@lemmy.caEnglish
16 hoursYou have higher hopes for justice than I do. I hope you’re right. 😄
- Shindo66@lemmy.worldEnglish16 hours
Normally, I would totally agree. But this isn’t the justice system. Congress can indict anyone they want with a majority and no one blocking it. Its not a trial, and if you don’t go it’s contempt. They people voted in know that this is why they were voted in. Lying is perjury. You’ll have a senator yelling at Don Jr “did your company make money off of that decision either directly or indirectly? Would they have made that money had that decision not been made? Or- Did you have affiliations with the CEO of that company before they were awarded the contract?” Then he’ll say something like “I did not know him” and then they’ll say “well, we subpoenaed records from your golf club and found you played golf with him no less than 7 times last year…”
Avid Amoeba@lemmy.caEnglish
15 hoursYou’re thinking about the technical ability to do it. I agree 100% there’s avenues to fuck them up. What I doubt is that the Democrats would actually use the tools to do it. I know there’s a few insurgent progressives that would absolutely prosecute the shit out of the hogs. I think they won’t get enough support from the do-nothing corporate Democrats that are paid by the oligarch class. We’ll see tho. I hope they realize that this will get them primaried.
- 1 day
Yup. It’s gonna be pure sabotage for the next 2 years. And absolutely everything is going to be blamed on Dems.

Reminds me of the Bay of Pigs. Real American patriots doing their duty (voting) caused those ships to turn around.
- PonyOfWar@pawb.socialEnglish2 days
It was all just a stunt for the election anyway. Now that it’s over, they don’t need it anymore and Trump can stop pretending he gives a shit about the fuel prices again.
tigeruppercut@lemmy.zipEnglish
1 dayIt’s not like importing a couple days’ worth of fuel was gonna change prices anyway. It was just a way to funnel money to daddy putin.
- Taldan@lemmy.worldEnglish18 hours
It’s not funneling money to Putin. It was a purely political move. Diesel markets are fungible and efficient. Russia has been forced to import diesel from Belarus, South Korea, and others to ensure their reserves are healthy
Them selling diesel to the US is basically just shifting purchases around. Russia doesn’t make money in any real terms for it. It was simply a hail mary play from Trump to convince voters that he’s doing everything possible to keep fuel prices down

2 daysRussia badly wanted to sell that oil. Local governors where already making noise that buyers were in for legal trouble and last night’s results put the final nail in the coffin.

1 dayRussia has too little Diesel for its own economy. Or what’s left of that.
- manxu@piefed.socialEnglish1 day
That was the weirdest thing about that deal: Russia is forced to import diesel because Ukraine has taken so much of the refinery capacity offline.
So Putin would be sending diesel to America and make that up by importing more? Clearly, this was a PR operation aimed at making it seem Trump was doing something about diesel prices, and that it was Ukraine’s fault that they were so high.
brainwashed@feddit.orgEnglish
18 hoursEverything for Agent Krasnov. Not that hes in the shitter the resources are diverted to more pressing matters.
- Taldan@lemmy.worldEnglish18 hours
Russia had an export ban on diesel. What is your reasoning for believing Russia “badly wanted to sell” it?
It’s a critical resource for their invasion of Ukraine. It is in short supply globally, as well as within Russia. Why would they want to sell it?
- Hirom@beehaw.orgEnglish2 days
My first thought: that’s ridiculous…
But then I recall the vile man has done lots of ridiculous stunts.
- dustycups@aussie.zoneEnglish2 days
Well, there’s a lot of these ships going around the world all the time and very seldom does anything like this happen. I don’t want anyone thinking that tankers aren’t safe.

I feel dirty even saying it, but it’s honestly pretty funny that Putin shipped 140,000 tonnes of diesel into the middle of the Atlantic just to pull a fake out move.
variaatio@nord.pubEnglish
2 daysthey will have another buyer lined up probably in South America or Africa, where the sanctions aren’t as common
- 2 days
Russia has had diesel shortages for months, that fuel will probably head straight back to Russia.
