23 daysSpurdo Spärde is a poorly drawn character based on the sprite image of Pedobear.
Is this true? Not sure if I trust this website.

Spurdo Spärde is based on a joke drawing of Pedobear, but they’ve been completely different memes for at least the past 15 years.

Art crammed and cropped into small shapes to make a map of Europe, to be enjoyed just as it was intended.

It’s Meisje Met De Parel. I agree with edwardbear that De Sterrennacht by Van Gogh would have been a better pick.
- deft@lemmy.wtfEnglish23 days
Easily not the most famous though. Van Gogh is like one of three artists I think all people have at least heard of

Our most famous painting is…a bronze statue?? 🤔

The Fighting Temeraire is not the UKs most famous painting. I’m not sure what is, but it isn’t that.

Honestly a lot of these are weird. Like there are definitely more famous French paintings than Impression, Sunrise.

It presents like the person who made it took an art history class for non-majors, filled in the top 5, then used the first google result for the rest.

Thanks to Mr. Bean, Whistler’s Mother (painted in London by an American born artist) is probably the UK’s most famous painting.

The only two they got absolutely bang on is probably Norway and Italy. lol.

There’s been famous paintings made after 1800. What ancient person made this.

Spain’s is Guernica (1937). What are u complaining about?
Edit: in fact, from the paintings I recognize, only Gioconda and Lady with the earring are from <1800. Son of Man and the man in the mountain one are from ~1930. France’s is the one that started impressionism (~1870) and England’s is also impressionist, probably from Turner (19th century)
