From Tariq Zaidi’s book Sapeurs, a collection of photography about the Sapeur subculture in the Republic of the Congo.
The sapeurs are dandies who take european fashion and make it their own. I think they are fantastic, in much the same way that the Cowichan sweater is a superior rendition of the cardigan and the banh mi is a superior rendition of baguette sandwich, sapeur style is miles ahead of the much more dour western suits.
