First on the list:
Stop being such pussies and do your fucking job of holding people responsible.
The only entity that could be trusted to do that and who have shown they are neutral is the military.
Suspend democracy for five years and task the US military with investigating the Epstein regime, the supreme court, their backers, allies, associates, Heritage. Sieze their assets, return theor wealth if they fully cooperate and are found completely innocent of any wrongdoing.
Unless the rich see that they will lose absolutely everything, all their wealth, their status, their power they will never stop abusing the political system.
Have the military propose changes to the constitution to fix the holes that allow it to be used as a platform for totalitarianism. Citizens United, political Supreme Court appointment mechanism and oversight, executive authority, corruption, criminality, all these things are clearly broken and the system enables the one thing the founders wanted to prevent, tyranny
While both parties eat from the trough of political corruption the likelihood of them ever changing the system is a pipedream.
And Israel has to be dealt with.

The same neutral military that happily invaded foreign countries unprovoked and keeps coviering up the random murder of fishermen?
- 23 hours
Who else is there?
The judges are politically appointed and act as an extension of political parties which is corrupted with political financing often from foreign nations. The system is completely fucking broken.
The only entity I see that actually remains politically neutral is the military.
America is fucked beyond belief. It no longer has an effective working model in any branch.

I think there’s an amendment that was supposed to make the population that entity. Sucks that no one actually wants to shoot fascists anymore.

The same thing has happened with the military leadership. Did you miss the massive wave of purges and resignations of almost every leadership position?

It’s not rome
It’s America today
The system is so broken and corrupted that you can’t tweak it better
the “oh let’s be nice and kind and soft and weak, let’s be mr. Rogers democrats, we trust the system”

America is completely exposed, it’s fucked

Dems should run Mark Kelly President and Markiplier for VP. Have them ALREADY CAMPAIGNING AND AT EVENTS Call them Marksest just to start shit

None of this will happen. You see, the corrupt authoritarian child-raping nazi GOP wants the throne so they can manipulate and grift American citizens into making them more wealthy.
The Democrats just want to sit on in.
I’m looing forward to the excuses again.
We didn’t have a super majority so we couldn’t even try.
Well we can’t upset the Senate norms.
What would happen if we did that and Republicans took back control?
Fetterman is an important and vital Democrat.

How that ass hasn’t already been kicked to the curb, I don’t know. Is he even still caucusing with Democrats? he’s promoting republican candidates and republican conventions.

I’m GLAD they FINALLY have a CONCISE and EASY TO READ list of things to IGNORE!

2 daysThis header made me laugh, thank you.
Things to do
- Don’t raise minimum wage.
- Don’t pass universal healthcare (40+ year streak).
- Don’t increase social programs.
- Don’t reduce military spending.
- Don’t increase taxes to pre-Reagan levels (40+ year streak)
I don’t think they can avoid federal minimum wage increase any longer, maybe I’m wrong on that one.
I vote every election, and you should too. Because it’s funny
Do you know that since Reagan, the Democrats have never restored or brought back a single social safety net or benefit we lost from the Republicans?
Please vote this election
Hakeem Jeffries is meeting with Jared Kushner secretly
AIPAC Dems are funding aipac gop over left candidates
Tammy duckworth is saying that she doesn’t support impeaching anybody and that Dems should work WITH MAGA.
I mean, vote red or blue but we are still Israel

Do you know that since Reagan, the Democrats have never restored or brought back a single social safety net or benefit we lost from the Republicans?
Why would they? I’m sure it was very expensive for their owners to rip away those safety nets.

I do it because i have gotten addicted to losing, like a lottery ticket. It feels good to know I wasted my time in such a polite way.
I’ve seen this song and dance time and time again.
Here’s a comprehensive list of things the DNC will accomplish given the chance:

…more of a “things the rich can pay us to NOT do”, and they’ll all become more corrupt along the way.
“We really tried on this, but even later on when we held the House, Senate, and Presidency, we still just couldn’t get it done.” -Democrats pretending to be incapable (when they’re paid to be that way).
It’s all money. The government is a pay for play business for wealthy companies and people.

Start with three big challenges. First, a lot of those who voted for Democrats are expecting action to improve their economic conditions: Run on affordability, you better improve affordability. Second, and related, with Democrats holding a sizable piece of power in Washington, the failures of policy driven by the reckless Trump and his administration could be blamed on them—and it is a sure thing that hundreds of millions will be spent by Trump allies to try to pin the problems on the Democrats. Americans already think Washington isn’t working; if it looks like Democrats are a part of the problem and not of the solution, that could have brutal consequences in 2028.
Third, it is clear that the Democratic Party base wants toughness and serious pushback against the corruption, misconduct, and mayhem that are the core of Trump’s presidency. Witness the negative reaction to the private meeting between House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner, looking for areas of possible common ground after January 3. Rank-and-file Democrats want pushback, not compromise. Of course, compromise will be necessary to meet the first challenge of improving people’s economic circumstances. But if it is not led by Democrats using every tool at their disposal to name names, kick ass, and stop further destruction, there will be hell to pay with the base.
TLDR:
Don’t be a neoliberal…
It’s literally that easy, and considering the voting members of the DNC pivoted 20 months ago, there’s no reason to assume incoming dem leadership will be the same shitty neoliberals as this current Congress.
- 2 days
The DNC has had the same neoliberals running the party for decades. They will not retire because the new generation of Americans is not worthless.
Israel has the DNC bought and paid for. Political corruption has completely broken American politics.
Maybe just vote for the candidates that spend the least on elections rather than parties.
If you hate money in politics, stop voting for it
- 23 hours
AIPAC is already toxic to a campaign in a Democratic Party election. They started funneling AIPAC money through hidden channels to support war mongering neoliberals.
- givesomefucks@lemmy.worldEnglish2 days
The DNC is the party and it’s a dictatorship under the chair…
The current chair spent the last decade turning Minnesota from purple to Blue, filled with some very progressive Dems. In the middle of “the heartland”…
I think your confusion is you think Schumer/Jefferies have any power, they’ve been lame ducks for all but two weeks of this Congress
Because their power came from a neoliberal DNC willing to withhold state party funds.
Those funds are gone, given to the state parties. There literally is no more “club” for Schumer/Jeffries to wield
Like, it’s really not that complicated, but I feel like Im constantly explaining this shit still…
People need to put more emphasis on the funding thing when discussing this, Schumer and Jeffries basically lost the only thing they had to throw around. It’s entirely possible that if the Dems take the house and/or Senate either of them could be thrown from influence simply because the Congress critters don’t need to worry nearly as much about funding. Hell you could even see a situation where Schumer and/of Jeffries are pushed into supporting more progressive shit simply because the new blood can about them down without worry.

No, I think we’ll just get called Nazi-equivalent if we don’t vote for lesser of two evils were told to vote for the next time around, as it has been for 50 years.
Edit: And let me clarify before any other illiterate people get confused about it. If you want to vote for someone, you should vote for them. I am not telling anybody not to vote. Please go and vote for whoever you want to vote for - it is your very important right to vote in whatever way you like.
Well there are quite a few progressives that are running this time around so I would suggest that if you’re tired of having crap centrists that do fuck all, then go and donate and vote for them if they’re in your district/state.
mfed1122@discuss.tchncs.deEnglish
2 daysCrazy how people assume I’m not just because I say there won’t be hell to pay for the dems if they don’t kick ass, etc
Internet Centrists tend to get upset if you even hint that you won’t vote for their crappy candidate that won’t do anything to affect change while voting for others who would because it’s Blue no matter who until it’s not.
mfed1122@discuss.tchncs.deEnglish
1 dayYeah I think most people get their beliefs as a package deal. For them its “either you’re XYZ or you’re not XYZ”. There’s no cognitive nuance to understand that someone might assert X but not Y or Z, etc. And so when someone comes along saying “I’m a Not-X” they suddenly go “oh, so you’re a Not-Z then too huh???”
- givesomefucks@lemmy.worldEnglish2 days
Good thing you waited till a month before the midterm to convince the left to just not vote at all instead of pushing for a candidate you wanted in the primaries…
Silver lining tho, after a decade of this shit I hope people don’t fall comments like yours again
mfed1122@discuss.tchncs.deEnglish
2 daysI didn’t tell anyone not to vote. Everyone should vote for who they want to. If someone wants to vote, then by all means, please do. Everyone should vote for whoever they want to vote for.
The only person telling people how to vote and being a dick about it is you.

No, I think we’ll just get called Nazi-equivalent if we don’t vote for lesser of two evils were told to vote for the next time around, as it has been for 50 years.
If you’re pedantic point here is voting for “libertarians”…
That’s the same as not voting.
People should have a problem with our party systems, but pretending it’s not what it is because that upsets you is childish.
Very few problems are solvable by pretending the problem doesn’t exist
mfed1122@discuss.tchncs.deEnglish
2 daysThe only thing that I said was that there will not be hell to pay for the Democrats if they do not enact any meaningful change. And, indeed, there won’t be, because if they did win this next time around, and they didn’t enact any meaningful change, and then next time around, when it came time to vote again, we would be having the exact same discussion, and I would be lampooned in the exact same way, for the exact same reasons that you’ve already laid out right here and now. And so very plainly there will not be hell to pay for the Democrats.
What would hell to pay consist of if not them not being voted for?
And so if you agree that we all must vote for the Democrats, for the presidential election, then I don’t see how that isn’t equivalent to saying there won’t be hell to pay for Democrats.
- givesomefucks@lemmy.worldEnglish2 days
I legitimately don’t understand what you’re even trying to say…
- 2 days
I suppose if you prefer the way Republicans run the government more than Democrats, then yea vote for anyone but the Democrat candidate in the general.
- 2 days
Hell to pay? Really? Most of the “base” is apathetic as all hell. I just hope they get motivated enough to vote this November.
