They can’t make their chatbots do anything, and they can’t stop them from doing anything either.

They “program” by giving it a task over and over, and telling it when it does a good job. That’s why they operate at a loss and are desperate for people to use it. The more it’s used the better it got, and they think if people use it enough, some day it will magically start working

But even if it did, no one would know how it works. And if that ever happens, the first thing they’d do is have that chatbot train others.

We need laws for the humans running the code, not for the code.

I don’t remember a single thing about it.

Everytime it’s happened to me, is burned into my memory. Slow motion replay, exactly what happened, and what could have happened if I wasn’t trying to slam on the figurative brakes as hard as possible.

But I got PTSD on top of panic attacks.

I talked to a German military psychiatrist about it due to a very weird string of instances, and apparently it’s relatively common over there. He described it as being “bear bait”, and an evolutionary adaptation to how big of a problem bears were back in the day. But his English wasn’t great, and my German is pretty shit, I’m sure there’s a super long German name for it.

But if a whole tribe is backed into a cave, at least one idiot needs to go “fight” the bear and buy everyone else time to run. That’s not just aggression, it involves turning off all self preservation and empathy, the only thing in your mind has to be “fuck that bear” and if any rational part of your brain was still online, you’d know you don’t stand a chance against a bear. In modern society “the bear” is anything that can’t be dealt with by any other means, when out of options the propeciption system steps up.

But the absolute worst part about it, is how everyone expects someone who’s had their fight or flight reflex “triggered” to either curl up in a ball or run away. That’s not the only options and people don’t realize they’re playing with their own lives. I’d bet the reason this guy went to a college campus, was he didn’t want his targets to have a gun. And that should absolutely come up at trial.

The vast amount of people respond by running away or curling up in a ball when they’re overstimulated, but a significant albeit small population get a real honest to God “fight” reflex.

And it is not what people think it is, it’s not squaring up for a fight conciously and standing your ground. It’s not making a bunch of noise to not be an easy target.

In a panic attack, the conscious mind shuts down and the propeciption system takes the wheel. Trigger the wrong person and before anyone knows what’s happening, extreme violence has broken out, and that person is legitimately in a state where they’re fighting for their life, even if it’s just a “prank”.

Once that happens, you might as well be saying “just a prank bro” to a brick wall you just drove into. Their “mark” would just become unresponsive with a blank face for a second or two which looks like what the bully wants, but when someone involuntarily loses the ability to feel emotions in those situations but hasn’t literally curled up in a ball, that’s probably the last step before violence.

Logic doesn’t work anymore when someone is actually “triggered” which means violence or running away.

And people don’t get to choose their fight or flight response, that shit is baked in.

Any type of government can do a genocide…

He ended up in the same place, but he thinks he inserted sarcasm into the story when he just couldn’t see it in what he had removed.

Like, there was an entire third race in the books, a middle ground between bugs and humans, and the novel starts with a soldier massacring a village of civilians while his only concern was making sure he used all his explosive before returning because they got yelled at if they didn’t.

Right from the very first page it’s undeniable that Earth is not the good guys in Heinlens’s version. Then it goes to where the movie starts.

Heinlen just 100% stuck to his characters point of view. They didn’t think any of it was evil, so the book doesn’t. Idiots think that means Heinlen didn’t have an issue with it.

The book was always a warning written with fellow military officers in mind as the audience.
