  • For a point against AI, I think you should consider the way in which LLMs reduce cognition in people.

Arguably it’s not necessary for people to do all of their cognition themselves, but that definitely does make people’s thinking ability weaker. I suppose you could look at it like how when we automated physical labour away from most people - and now most people do not do nearly enough exercise. If we automate thinking away from most people, I feel like that will lead to worse health outcomes as well

  • I can see that there is some value in using AI in the workplace, but I am hestitant to use it myself until someone can show that it is not damaging the environment, we have a plan for how to ensure people can use it in a healthy way, and that the content which was used to train it was ethically sourced and/or those content makers were appropriately compensated.

Because I just can’t shake the sense that the tool is fundamentally unethical to use currently.

  • I don’t think dreams necessarily have meaning. They /can/ be about things you’ve been thinking about or stressing about. But I think their internal logic means little. I’ve had some which were total nonsense. I suspect it’s more valuable to look at the emotions which were being experienced during the dream than the plot itself.

  • I’m with you bro. But I feel like at least a few of my problems are self inflicted. I need to get up, get out, move around, sleep right, eat right, drink water, and build community. There’s a torrent of bad but I want to be part of making things better, y’know?

Easier said than done, but also the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step? Idk take care brother
