That could be part of the problem: time signatures aren’t a property of the notes, they’re a property of the song. The time signature is the rhythm and flow of the music. If you try to do a waltz in 4/4, it’s probably not going to sound like a waltz unless you do some really screwy things.

Plus, knowing the time signature helps you figure out why that guy is waving his stick like that while you’re playing.

The OP didn’t ask for an original song. Just a song that was bigger than the movie it was in. I love Dolly, but Whitney’s version did things that The Bodyguard couldn’t begin to touch. So much bigger that I’d bet more people know she sang the song than know she starred in the movie.

I would imagine it’s less about the possibility of other healthy choices and more about not putting more things on the overworked teacher’s plates (so to speak). Which is the faster way to tell if kids have a healthy snack: seeing a row of kids eating fruit, or going to each one, looking at the snack’s wrapper, figure out if the ingredients sound healthy enough, hope that you’re not going to have to get into an argument with the kid because their parent found a couple of research papers on the internet, then move to the next one.
