LOL. You’re fucking amazing. You came to the conclusion that voter turnout programs only exist because they want voters to vote for them but literally won’t do anything that those voters want? That’s your conclusion? You couldn’t reason your way out of a paper bag. Which makes sense because you think an American who has been raised by Americans in America and consumed all the same anti-Russian propaganda you have consumed our whole lives is somehow having someone else’s thoughts when they have thoughts that disagree with the propaganda you and I have both been raised on. You are doing the meme.

Voter turnout has very rarely been a deciding factor in elections, and the current analysis by researchers is that voter turnout doesn’t have partisan benefits. In essence, you get the same politicians regardless of voter turnout.

Women fought for the right to vote without voting and they won. Black people fought for the right to vote without voting and they won. Voting doesn’t change anything, it turns out. What changes things is when politicians writ large stand to lose something bigger than their seat, like control over society.

The hundreds of millions spent on voter mobilization, get out the vote, rock the vote, voter education, voter registration, and all attendant campaigns is such an obvious massive counter to your inispid narrative.

Low voter turnout is a symptom of the problem, it is not the problem itself.
Since the fall of the USSR Russia has been involved in 3 cross-border military conflicts with its immediate neighbors over borders and territories that the USSR essentially defined while in the same time the USA has launched over a dozen wars of conquest and used NATO as a platform to launch unprovoked aggression for at least 3 of them, none of which were neighbors of the USA with whom the USA has border conflicts with but rather were on entirely different continents.

As individuals, they are literally colleagues. As legislators, the Ds regularly vote with Republicans to make all sorts of things happen. Corporate profits are highest under Democrats. The military budget expands under both parties. Democrat presidents regularly continue the policies of their Republican predecessors, the most obvious being Obama/Biden+Clinton and their war on Libya. Ds and Rs celebrate together, dancing in the halls of government. They eat together, send their kids to the same schools, are members of the same social clubs, have far and away vastly overlapping interests in insider trading, property values, procurement contracts, global domination, suppression of domestic revolt, etc.
It would be obvious that they collaborate if it wasn’t for the fact that PR professionals out number journalists 6-to-1 in the USA. The parties are PR firms, psychologically manipulating the masses into complacency, directing their energy towards dead ends, and keeping everyone fighting each other by turning everything into a moral issue that can only be solved by voting more morally.

No, I’m sorry but that’s not what harm reduction is. What you are saying is that the Bad Cop will hit you while you’re cuffed to the chair and the Good Cop will come in and apologize for it. But the Bad Cop will come back and do it again in an hour. The cops are colleagues, and they work together. The Good Cop is not harm reduction. The Good Cop is manipulating you. And it’s obvious. Again - Biden was VP when the policy framework for expanding DHS and ICE were created by him and Obama. Together they deported more people than Trump. Obama/Biden was the first administration to appoint Homan to be the deportation czar. Trump appointed him during both of his terms. Biden took power and had the knowledge, the experience, and the power to change DHS/ICE policy but didn’t. Biden and his DOJ had the full suite of Epstein files but did nothing to stop or even slow down Trump.
It’s time to face the facts. The Democrats are collaborating with the Republicans, despite all the noise they make to the contrary. They are manipulating you in a classic psychological ploy, and the only thing keeping it going is that people are falling for it.
Europe can save Ukraine by disbanding NATO

I just don’t think the Ds actually do harm reduction. Biden and his DOJ had the Epstein files and they did literally nothing with them. And that’s just the clearest example of the enabling they do. Obama and Biden expanded ICE into what it is today and created the policy framework that Trump is using, but Biden did nothing to address it when he was president. He just opted not to use it, knowing full well what the Republicans would do because they were literally publishing treatises on what they would do. The Democrats are harm reduction like the Good Cop has your best interests at heart.

TLDR: democratic socialism is possible
That is not at all the TLDR. Your entire argument is that outside the US voting can influence policy. No one is arguing against that, but that in no way supports the thesis that democratic socialism is possible. All of history shows that democratic socialism has never happened. There is no known path to democratic socialism at all.

You can do harm reduction in voting for the least-worst feasible candidate
The research does not support this thesis. Policy is largely independent of popularity.

Your understanding of politics is about what one expect from an American high schooler. The UN resolution recognizing One China is very clear. The article about current day censorship in Taiwan is also very clear. The fact that it provides historical context does not mean Taiwan does not continue to do censorship.
Back when [Hong Kong] was cool
Was that before or after the British realized they had to develop an anti-communist movement in their, now former, colony. Presumably after. If you had family that had to flee, they were either European colonizers or they were working for the Europeans, either way, not exactly winning any points with anyone who understands history.

China doesn’t have a veto on recognizing countries because it’s not a function of the Security Council. You really should read about it.

More importantly Taiwan is de facto a country
I am very tired of this specious debate. No it’s not. There is no “facto” of being a country. There is only “jure”. Countries are fictions that are constructed socially by agreement, and the social agreements of the world are such that Taiwan is not a country. Hell, the social agreements of Taiwan itself throughout its entire history is that it is not a country. The only people who make the argument that Taiwan is “de facto” a country are anti-comnunists who believe it’s perfectly just to purge tens of thousands of political dissidents for 3 generations and then claim that public opinion is a valid and untainted method of determining correctness.
Your initial post was a bad attempt at propaganda, hilarious you accuse me of the same thing.
Oh. My. God. Are you actually that daft? Hotz posted an article. My original post, which was a comment, was a link to Wikipedia page and nothing else. Holy fucking shit. Journalism is what happens when a journalist writes an article describing something about the world. Propaganda is when that journalism commits hypocrisy via lies of ommission. Providing context for that hypocrisy, peer reviewed and sourced, is not a form of bad propaganda. It’s literally anti-propaganda.
Censorship in both countries, as well as personal freedoms are not the same. I would happily move to and live in Taiwan, I would never live in China for that reason.
No one gives a shit where you would choose to live. You don’t live in either of those places. Your entire basis for your supposed “preference” is narrative, not lived experience. Your preference is meaningless.
I sleep well at night knowing after Russia’s clusterfuck of an invasion of Ukraine, China would never be stupid enough to attempt the same in Taiwan.
I have been sleeping well at night for decades on this topic because China’s position on Taiwan has literally been the same for 50 fucking years - they will never invade Taiwan to force integration militarily. They will only invade Taiwan on two conditions that constitute a national security threat to China: 1) the advancement of foreign kill chains that leverage the province and 2) the political declaration of secession by the provincial government of Taiwan because that would trigger foreign powers to deploy their militaries at a scale which would threaten national security.
They have said this for literal decades. The policy has never changed. The preparations have never stopped. The vigilance against the US and UK military presence in the region has been unending. The Russian invasion of Ukraine has not changed China’s position at all.

Sorry but Taiwan has never been a country. The UN has recognized Taiwan as a province of China for over 50 years and it was a province of China for a couple centuries before that. There was a brief period of Japanese occupation, but never has it ever been a separate country. The reason Taiwan would censor things from the CPC are the exact same reasons the CPC would censor things from Taiwan. They are literally congruent and the only reason to focus on the censorship of one side over the other is if you believe one side to be the “good guys” and one side to be the “bad guys” which means you’re not doing journalism or even promoting journalism, you’re just assuming your preconceived notions and then spreading propaganda to support your position, which is something Hotznplotz is very well known for in the fediverse.

It’s called hypocrisy. Taiwan ALSO censors free speech today, blocking apps, blocking DeepSeek, preventing digital commerce, etc. Pretending that censorship ended after the fascists dropped martial law in 1987, or even after the first ever presidential election in 1996, is disingenuous.

LOL. You have no idea what accelerationism is if you think that what I said is in any way related to accelerationism. You’re just regurgitating things you’ve heard without understanding. Here, do some reading:
