It’s probably not as good as it possibly could be, but in a automatic rice cooker the timing isn’t manually set, it just cooks until all the water is absorbed / boiled off. So, cooking brown rice on the white rice setting would still take way longer and probably be fine.

The main detail here to answer is if the package has widespread testing and support over a long term, there’s a higher chance that a mainline package will present minimal to no additional overhead to maintain by SteamOS devs compared to an AUR package.

Lol, no. Not at any company. If the board at any major company hears the words “CDROM kernel module” something as gone horrifically wrong.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s super cool that valve can make changes as fast as they do. But there’s no way that kind of decision makes to to the board.
