Corelle/Pyrex is its own story of going from the best product to “good enough”. Simple point, if you find yourself some old stuff of theirs, hang on to it because you can’t find anything comparable anymore. Same can probably be true of other old brands of products. I found an old Whirlpool dryer that I won’t ever let go of for the same reason. What will eventually fail on it I can either fix or buy a new, cheap part.

In addition to what’s been mentioned, that there isn’t a stupid question if it’s asked seeking an actual answer, the phrase is the title of the community, not a rule. Sometimes the simplest and “common knowledge” questions can spawn some interesting details that isn’t all that commonly known.

Be careful out there, since no one making sure the roads are safer.

While that does follow modern naming convention for multiple star systems, the primary star is denoted with an A. Since we already call it Sol, we’d probably make an exception in this case and come up with a stellar name for the other stars found rather than use the B. But your point stands, a star without a planet doesn’t seem to be a “sun”.

My take is that the word “suns” would imply someone else’s Sun in various systems. I don’t think it would be correct to call a star a sun if it didn’t have planets and occupants (past or future).

Since “the” is needed, “the Sun” is more of a generic placeholder, whereas Sol is its actual name in English. So you could be on a different planet somewhere and refer to its star as the Sun (implied of this system), or its name.

It’s also quite possible “suns” has been used in the past for all stars, this is just my take given how the words tend to be used by us.

That’s not a bad one. Make it blinking, then your day is ruined. Or make the oil or alternator light flicker or come on. Most of the engine lights I ever got were from older cars and basically a hiccup from old emissions. I did get a flashing one once, that was scary, pulled over immediately. Never figured out why, it didn’t reoccur after starting again. I hate those kinds.
