What’s left unsaid here, is when they change the law, the drivers have no choice but to comply. If they refuse to drive 16 hours, some other driver will, and the one who refuses loses the job. The truck driver has bills and the lease on his truck to pay, like everyone else. The people who hire them are in the same boat. If they don’t demand that their drivers drive 16 hours, then the next shipping company that does will take the job.
And, so it goes up the chain, the rich get richer and the poor get fucked. Make sure MAGA gets that they are among the poor, just like the rest of us. And, they’ll get fucked next.

This is crazy where i live its 9 hours manditory rest of 45 min after 4,5 hours maximum of 56 per week maximum 90 per 2 weeks. And manditory rest of 11 hours between shifts, we are still well suplied there is zero need for 14 hour shifts 12 is already crazy.

Now that’s no reason to give up. After COVID hit, I had a coworker that was anti-vaccine, and she talked to me about it, because she assumed I was as well. I had mentioned something about how whenever I accidentally drop food on the floor, I eat it as a challenge to my immune system. She expected that that thought carried over to vaccine hesitancy. I later sent her an e-mail telling her that my trick of challenging my immune system, was exactly what vaccines were. Then dove into what vaccines actually are and how they work. She later thanked me, and said that I helped her and her husband finally go and get their shots. It was real cool.
So, sometimes, if you approach it the right way, you can still change peoples minds.
Not like I’m an expert though, I’m still running into a brick wall of willful ignorance every time I try to engage with my trump loving parents 🙄

Has been on the road for years and they’re expanding to Europe next year… Nothing close to original promised specs, but there’s videos on YouTube just asking their drivers what they think, they mostly like them.

Indeed, it does exist. I find it curious when neutral facts get downvoted.
I find that product curious and many design decisions completely out of touch with trucker reality. It will have a hard time in Europe because of it. There are plenty of offers on the European market, that have 600-900kWh capacity, already for a while, without the weird dysfunctional design.

As a non-American, I find it baffling and hilarious that many Americans are proud to work 80 hours a week. It’s not a flex. They’d regret having done so when they become too frail and forgetful at the old age. And all the money they saved and pension being collected will be spent on healthcare and medication instead.
They did not even live their life when they were young and they won’t even enjoy the remainder.

Americans are no dumber than any other demographic. They have, however, been subject to a century-long propaganda campaign to instill subservience to capitalist ideology while those same capitalists have been dismantling any educational system or media outlet that might break that subservience.
Beware of the “Americans dumb” rhetoric, because a false sense of superiority is the exact thing that led Americans to accept the propaganda. It can happen to your country, too (and probably is happening, to be real).

50% of US citizens read at 5th grade level or lower. This doesn’t sound too terrible until you remember that those tests are actually comprehension tests. Majority of us have less comprehensive abilities than we expect out of children, and this was before the “ai” boom, you know it’s gotten exponentially worse already and will continue to decline at an ever accelerating pace.
