If you want it DIY, then DIY.
I think I will.

Fair cop.
Upvoted for truth, I was going with the idea of a monitor out from a phone, aka DeX (a horrible Samsung proprietary version of something that could be from a Linux phone, a free desktop, I believe it can happen, but expressed poorly) which has heaps of potential for turning phones into general computers. The next PC, in your pocket, and re-purpose a whole lot of e-waste, perhaps through LLM decomposition.
Right now I’m exploring SBC versions of the idea, nothing dramatic, give me books to read, music to listen to and whatever else a free OS has to offer and ideally a 5. something inch OLED or maybe a drawable eInk (currently remote desktop to my phone) screen and I’ll be happy, especially if I plugged it together myself.
Not at all prime time, not sure I even want that. But fair criticism if it was, idea may have some resonance?
And no, you couldn’t have guessed from one sentence. Seems we’re mostly aligned?
Not that app store, at least not without protection. Coz gOS lets me.
With Linux phones, will you even be able to tell the difference.

Meta: ‘We sell scammers shovels’
After all, gotta show solidarity with your peers.

Seriously, if IoT things were (easily, as in consumer protection laws) liable for damages, we’d have so much less useless, dangerous crap that’s mostly just there to monetize your data. How many of these ESP32 things can even be updated.
IoT VLAN > /dev/null (or perhaps to HomeAssistant, carefully, with blocklists) kiddies.
Basically equivalent to a GTX 1660. 192 GB/s is relatively slow, memory bandwidth being (usually) the bottleneck for LLMs.
You can just use the Google Camera App on gOS (add playstore, download app, remove playstore, kill GCams network, it doesn’t need google stuff to run). It really is optimized for the hardware.

Clammy Scammy (Altman)
The cloud is other peoples computers. Shocker. The mechanism by which we lose computational agency. Those datacenters, even if they’re not being used to take all jobs (didn’t fly, yet) are great at monitoring video feeds and killing home (personal) computing, can’t afford RAM, here’s a compute subscription forever.

Older Linux laptop, T480s are cheap, plus you have a Linux laptop in a pinch, or whatever Thinkpad is currently being dumped on the market from corpo fleets. All of that just works, host a Jellyfin on it and upload videos to that, laptop, so low wall power. Moonlight is great on my T580 to a wide 1440 for example. Bazzite’s pretty painless.
Healthy.
Like closing tabs.
After a certain time if you haven’t circled back, time to go.
Much fun, but IMO “we’ll burn that bridge when we get to it” is a perfectly valid maxim (yes I’m aware of its roots). YMMV.
I too enjoyed Grimm. How old is this idea?

You’d think it has bottomed out, and you’d be wrong.
All it takes for evil to flower is good people not weeding.

Apparently they need a good quarter and don’t care about the next couple of years. Linux wins.
So, someone got a good room reader (as in balancing speakers with pulse)? About to do it again.
Wow, coolish I guess (sans vibe), but this is not what Shannon intended (efficient transmission). Network connections are right there, but now we play LLM games.
