Everybody switched over to Pansexuality when it released in 2010.
- 5 days
Honestly I know this is unpopular but Pansexuality was a cash-grab. They just rereleased Bisexuality with a new marketing campaign.
- 6 days
Everybody most certainly did not switch over! They hard forked it and sure some people moved to the new fork because they liked the maintainers more and it has the community they vibe with, but a lot of people stayed with the old one and are still using it. The trademark stayed with the original fork, which means the new fork had to develop a new flag which not everyone in the community is stoked about…
There’s a couple side-forks with small communities, like Omni, but most people consider them pretty niche.

And honestly bisexual is just such a stable fork overall. It functions well with mainstream architectures but also makes a great entry point into sexualities that aren’t expressed in binary format. AND if you actually do the work of reading into the docs you find out that it’s not even just limited to the traditional two-gender dichotomy. So if you really really need some super specific fork of a fork of a fork for some super specifically narrow use-case that’s fine, but honestly in 90% of the cases bisexual actually covers most of the features you need and is widely recognized / compatible with the other stuff you’re using with half the effort.
Edit: just wanna give a shoutout to my hubs. I grew up as a tumblr pan girl and honestly he’s super based as a bi dude. First of all it’s way harder to be bi as a dude and also he introduced me to the actual bi manifesto and how the bi’s have always been super inclusive to begin with by not assuming there are two genders to begin with but also that trans girls & boys are just girls & boys so that aspect doesn’t count as an extra gender to be attracted to anyway soooo. Mans has always been super based and I love him a lot.
I’ve been working on the open source LGBTQ+ality since they added the + back in 2012 and never looked back. It’s a bit more maintenance, but I’ve always been a so it yourselfer.

I remember applying for jobs in 2015 that were asking for 5+years experience with LGBTQ+ality for an entry level position! Fucking bonkers.

Fuck, Ubuntu’s going to rewrite my sexuality in a more permissible license, isn’t it?
As long as you’ve got access to the bootloader you can install whatever sexuality you like. You can even distro hop if you feel like it. Try different ones on for size.

I’m in Canada, our bootloaders are always locked. Wait. I’m getting too caught up in the analogy. Anyway, fuck Samsung.

So much easier to just use PyLGBTQ if you don’t need the performance.
GoLGBT looks interesting, but it lacks queer support.

There’s this thing called LGBTR, if you want the speed of LGBTQ++ with the modern features of LGBTQ#. Let’s hope its lead developer isn’t a dead beat community manager, who will inevitably destroy it through mismanagement and embracing AI after he manages to make some slop images for his presentations.

Only because terfs stole the bi label, and now not many people use pan either, since terfs claim pansexual means “will fuck children, dogs, and the kitchen sink”
- 6 days
Don’t listen to TERFs, many claim to be “politically lesbian”, but instead they’re just the MGTOW of women, and also (quite ironically) lesbophobic.

Arguably, it’s coded in Rust, so it’s more memory safe.

5 daysIt’s a good thing they included a picture, so you’d know what bisexuals look like.
- 5 days
This is not enough.
I need a bisexual identification book, just like those ones for mushrooms.
Unlike mushrooms though, I won’t eat the bisexuals. I promise.
Ridiculous. This has been around since this new thing called “forever”
- 4 days
Yeah, but it was technically still in beta. Then in 1995 we got the 1.0 release.
- 5 days
True, but we weren’t allowed to talk about it & didn’t have a word for it until 1995.
/s I guess, I dunno
I very much remember AC/DC being the term used in personal ads by bi- folk
A tribute to the Australian rock band, of course.
- 2 days
Interesting. Please explain how AC/DC can be correlated with bisexuality? I’m trying to picture the physical attributes/mechanics of alternating current & direct current plugs 🤔 Or do you mean the band AC/DC was literally bisexual 🤣
I think it was simply a metaphor referring to the capacity to accept either of two standards.

The two in front are the henchpeople, the one in back is the Final Boss of Bisexuality.

6 daysYes, but when his health bar is depleted, new music sets in and he transforms into this guy…

6 dayswe’re called henchbacks and it’s a perfectly normal deformity

At least they made it open source. Someone forked it after the bisexuality devs said they will not include non binary people. Migrating all my sexual fantasies to pansexuality already
as a bi/pan guy, this is my all time favourite image.
so fkn stupid 😂
They look like they’re about to release an absolutely sickkkk synthpop album.
a self-titled album from the band ‘Bisexuality’ has insane aura ngl
I think I speak for the heterosexuals and gender binary when i say that the image is the 1995 and Western version of “why are u gae?” moment. It’s the heteronormative society not comprehending the world outside of their own view. It’s usually one likes either a man or a woman but can’t be both. It reminds me of the debate whether or not Alexander the Great is gay. But as someone pointed, why argue if he liked either men or women, but never considered if both? Now i can see why bi-erasure is a thing.
This was 1995; sexuality was a “new” topic. Identifying as anything other than straight could literally cost you your life. It was 2 years before Ellen would come out publicly on TV because she feared losing her show and 3 years before Matthew Shepard was tortured and dragged to death for being gay.
A lot of boomers believed and probably still believe that being bisexual was the lazy way of not making a choice. The 90s are pretty romanticized now but it was a scary time for a lot of LGBTIA+ folks.
Holy cxxp, Cary Grant was bi?!
…actually, no… no, that’s not really that surprising…

I heard there was a miscommunication from the project lead and the project was forked

Yes, it is so new… Alexander the Great is adready known as bisexual, but he is no one…
