Non binary god? Does this mean the texas Jesus folk believe in a binary, gender fluid god?
The reference is to a speech given by Talarico where he explains he believes god is nonbinary (his words). The republicans made sure everyone in Texas heard that and if they know a single thing about Talarico, it’s that the guy said god is nonbinary and there are six biological sexes (he also did say that).
Because the republicans’ candidate, Paxton, is a corrupt mess impeached by his own party, they really need their voters be scared of heretic Talarico.- 8 days
Man, I remember reading about some culture that actually had five formal gender structures and thinking, “That makes so much sense. Why can’t we do that?” Anthropology not politics. Wish I’d bookmarked it, although said culture was probably brown people and therefore unrecognizable to the people who most need to see it.

Isn’t the argument that god looks like a dude wearing an open robe and you can see his thick, veiny god-dong when he sits down casually?
If god doesn’t have a thick, drippin’ hog, what even is Christianity?

I think I remember only one man (Job maybe) every was allowed to look on god a he could only see his back. That’s probably because god lost the belt to his robe somewhere and knew that seeing the deitic phallus would just be too much for mortal man to handle.

Seems like a coincidence that Job could only see the back side of God. How did he get his name again?

Jesus identifies as man, but being a virgin birth, he cannot have the Y chromosome…
- 8 days
Virgin birth means there was no sexual intercourse. IVF allows conception without intercourse and certainly doesn’t prevent the introduction of Y chromosomes.
- Klear@piefed.worldEnglish8 days
First successful IVF was in 1978. Jesus was born more than 30 years before that.

I was using it to demonstrate that immaculate conception as a concept isn’t necessarily parthenogenesis.

The Catholic church (not sure about other denominations) literally teach that god has no gender : https://uscatholic.org/articles/202303/does-god-have-a-gender/
Technically… isn’t god non-binary anyway lol. It’s supposed to be a being with no human attributes, no gender etc
Me thought their god was terniary (being a trinity and all) but turns out that is in base-2. Maybe if Talarico wins god will become something interesting like base-20.

okay yeah, surface level my reaction is “stop, I can only get so erect.”
but looking just one level down, this is god damn terrifying. they are so brainwashed against Bernie “wants you to have healthcare”, Alexandria “let’s just make some sane decisions”, and Zohran “everything I do is good for the people but I have a scary Muslim name” that they’re perceived as putting the literal devil image on a mailer.
that’s horrifying, man. these are good people that have never raped children (yes, yes, as far as we know). how do these people think they’re villains?

Zohran has a YouTube. There was a mock vid on his “scary” smile because his opponents had nothing else to point fingers at.
These pedo apologists would be in big trouble if someone with common sense came in and did anything real for the people.

I’m already sold on the guy, geez
(if only he was actually this cool)

So they can’t come up with anything actually bad about him. Got it.
Paxton is a criminal.

Funny how they have to rely so heavily on appealing to peoples hate and xenophobia on account of their platform doesn’t actually aim to achieve anything of substance for normal people.

I’m not an American but this TalaFREAKo seems pretty cool. Even their name is awesome.

The list bulleted in X’s will be confusing to some. X’s usually denote the absence or removal of a thing. I find that funny too
I want to rant a bit, and while this post may not be the perfect place for it, it’s related.
I am eternally frustrated by democratic candidates jumping in the culture war on the opposite end of the right, and taking positions that are way out there for most people, then making the surprised pikachu face when voters don’t show up for them.
I recently heard this from an analyst: democrats are so keen to be inclusive to the 1% on the fringe, they forget the 75% in the middle who are their actual constituents and undecided voter base.
Case in point. Talarico, the otherwise good candidate, eloquent, strong fundraiser… goes out to explain there are 6 fucking biological sexes. Why. Why the fuck is it important for him to say that, putting a big fucking culture war target on his back. Are there six sexes? Is six really the only right answer, and we’re confident in that? Do most of us know people from each of the six? Does he want to win on the votes of those 3 people who felt more included specifically because he said there are 6 sexes, and not something more general about not being a bigoted homophobe?
I have a degree in biology and I like to think I am the least bigoted person. I don’t have any desire to police other people’s sex life or identity. But fuck me, the statement that there are 2 biological sexes of mammals, is more correct than any other statement using a different number than 2. There are a million issues to fight the MAGA culture war on, but the 2 biological sexes is not one of them. All the nuances of sex determination are just those: nuances to an otherwise simple fact. If you want to acknowledge those nuances, talk about them, but don’t replace the basic fact (2 sexes) with one that is at best thinly defendable (6 sexes). I am no expert in sex determination, but I am willing to bet any money that the number 6 would be debated by at least a big chunk of the experts.
I feel the same way when a promising candidate says “no human is illegal on stolen land” - here we have another nationally unelectable candidate who will run for president and lose the race to any white guy with a pulse who says he supports traditional values.
the us vs them washing here is strong.
it’s not even tackling anyone’s platform.
