• What’s the deal with Ed Sheeran? I keep hearing people hating on him the past day or two but I have not seen any reason why.

    • The venues hosting his tours kicked Macklemore out for supporting Palestine. He wouldn’t take a stand and all of his supporting bands, including his backing band quit.

      • Yeah like he didn’t even need to announce support for Palestine or anything. Just needed to say “don’t kick out my fellow speech artists for their speech”.

  • Hey Ed, what’s the point of fuck you money if you never say fuck you?

    • Had to look it up. She’s Jewish and has that mistaken belief that the Israeli government = all Jews everywhere.

  • I’m out of the loop on this and I don’t want to look it up, I’d rather ask here and have one of you fill me in.

Edit: I’m grateful for everyone who replied.

    • Macklemoore was opening for Ed Sheeran on his tour, and took some time in his set to speak out in favour of not genociding Palestinians, including clarifying statements that he wasn’t blaming Jews in general, just specifically the state of Israel.

The owner of many of Sheeran’s tour venues phoned him and said he needed to change his opening act or he’d be barred from performing at venues owned by the same company and several other venue-owners who’d agreed to join the threat. Sheeran caved, despite the fact that some of the tour dates were too soon to plausibly book a replacement capable of filling the venues, and Sheeran being a massive ticket-seller in general, so it likely being a bluff.

P!nk retweeted a message from a pro-Israeli organisation accusing Macklemoore of extreme and vile antisemitism, then when called out for it, doubled down with direct accusations of Macklemoore being an antisemite and wanting to harm Jews.

        • I’m Jewish. I’m not religious. I’ve studied a fair amount about Jewish, Abrahamic, and Judeo-Christian history, scripture, and culture. I am by no means an expert, but I’ve forgotten more about these religions than most people ever bother to learn.

Armed with this knowledge, I’m ready to make an assessment:

          • P!NK is a bad Jew.
          • Any pro-genocide Jew is a bad Jew.
          • Any Jew who calls people antisemitic for criticizing military actions is a bad Jew.
          • Any Jew who compares humans to animals and uses xenophobia to justify marginalization is a bad human.
          • Any Jew who uses comparisons to animals as justification for extermination is a bad person.
          • Any Jew who condemns children instead of reaching out to them is a bad person and is not paying attention.
          • Any Jew who celebrates the extermination of entire families, bystanders, and civilians needs to examine their entire life while literally eating a brick.
          • I hate that criticism of Israeli foreign or domestic policies has been equated with a criticism of judeusm and Jewish people as a whole.

There are definitely Jewish people in Israel who disagree with their governments actions. Same as every country.

            • My family sure isn’t in that group and I’m so fucking pissed at them. We lost dozens of family members in the Holocaust, passed down our stories for, like, 2 generations, and then said “fuck it, the real problem was that we didn’t get to be the Nazis.”
