Sorry but what a dumb question to ask. A car lets you go way farther, way faster, with way less personal energy expense. It gets you over hills without getting your clothes all sweaty. It lets you carry more stuff and more passengers. It protects you from the weather. We would all like to live somewhere we don’t have to use a car if we don’t want to, but still a car simply gives you more options than a bike. It’s dumb to even consider a bike might offer more freedom.

I would absolutely use one except sweating.
I suspect that’s the secret reason almost everyone drives everywhere.

Weather, too. I’d rather take the subway, but that’s going to involve moving to a place that actually has one…

Why? Because you can’t become a billionaire by selling bicycles.
There, I said it.

I feel like there’s a PhD thesis waiting to be written that links the unearned privilege of being a man and the comparable lack of effort that goes into driving versus biking.

comparable lack of effort that goes into driving
hey, I put the effort into handling the stick shift while driving, what could be more manly than reaching over and grabbing a knob and gently rocking it back and forth, up and down?

go as and only as far and fast as you can
I’ll say this instead. It’s very important because people shall be responsible for their own actions. The great power can only come if he bares great responsibility. Driving or riding a motorcycle, in my opinion, is wielding something powerful way beyong humans’ league, and shall be strictly regulated.
