WHOMP
you were all warned and didn’t listen. You thought it was okay for him to subjugate “those illegals” because you thought you were the “good ones” so therefore it was okay to harm those groups.
Fuck you and enjoy not having a face

Met a Cuban last year who was a “Fuck your feelings” Trump supporter.
I think about him a lot whenever Trump threatens Cuba.

Voting for things then getting mad at them is a Texas tradition. I had to stop talking to people because hearing people say “God damn [insert politician] rabble rabble rabble. I mean, I voted for him and will again, but fuck that guy.” Somewhere in their brain files is a line that says politicians are untrustworthy bastards and instead of fixing it they make it a self fulfilling prophecy.

So they’re fucking stupid then? He’s been anti-immigrant since long before he was elected. What did they think was going to happen?

Deport the “bad ones.” Not realizing that bad is having a skin colour away from mayo.

Hold on, let me check my stack of fucks…
Nope, I have no fucks to give to these idiots.

Exactly.
I was an immigrant myself at one point (not in the US, but elsewhere in Europe than were I was born) and immigrants are no inherently better than the locals, just less powerful and hence the nasty ones amongst them less likely to show their nastiness (as they’re more likely to have to suffer payback for it). This is painfully obvious if you’re in any way familiar with the politicial situation in their countries of origin - plently of cold calous selfish assholes there and plenty of them emigrate.
I firmly believe that the US-style Identity Politics with the whole hypersimplified and hypergeneralized (and even discriminatory, though the practicioners of it think it’s “positive”) idea that “all immigrants are victims” was an invention of some Neoliberal Think Tank and in my experience of actually being involved in Politics in a couple of countries, it’s pretty much only that out of touch layer of middle class scions of the middle class who haven’t ever really had to fight just to stay afloat that believed such simplistic bollocks.

to be fair how would they know? he only insulted Latinos every time he talked about them, called them rapists and murderers, and promised he would deport all of them… like are they supposed to be mind readers???
- resipsaloquitur@lemmy.cafeEnglish3 months
He repeatedly called immigrants (dogwhistle for Latinos) rapists.
- pyre@lemmy.worldEnglish3 months

But … Republicans are racist. At least, against anyone who isn’t white. And even the white ones don’t like each other that much!

3 monthsits exhausting how many times this exact scenario has played out in America.
group 1 aligning with republicans over shared hatred over a third group.
Harm done to third group, group 1 happy as clams.
Republicans turn their eyes to group 1, begins fucking them over in the worst ways possible
Group 1:

Group 1: Why you do this to us?! we were friends! we worked together! I thought you considered us honorarily white!?
Republicans: You were nothing but a useful tool. Now go die.

My Catholic in-laws voted for Trump in 2016 because Biden was going to outlaw Catholicism, of all things.

Not really. And it isn’t “woman bad”, it’s “culturally and religiously woman do x, y, and z- that list does not include lead”. Mexico addressed this head on my requiring political parties to nominate roughly equal numbers of men and women. North of the border, no such rules.

Climbed the stairs.
Voted to have the stairs pulled up behind them.
Turned out they also voted to get kicked down from the platform themselves.
Frankly, such immigrant rightwingers are the only bunch that actually deserve the tender mercies of the likes of ICE.
(And for any knee-jerking “identity warriors” out there, never forget that immigrants are like everybody else and thus amongst them, plenty of people when they think they themselves are safe from it (“I’m alright Jack”) are just as nasty hearthless and selfish “conservative” and even fascist as the Republicans)
