There’s been an entire subculture dedicated to sharing recordings of live performances (on tape, originally) at the highest standard possible —all for free, and word of mouth only.

Its been a thing since at least the 80s, IIRC, and not only does no one hear of it from mass media outlets, but its collective impact on any/all related industries is negligible at best.

Gee, I wonder how a disjointed, disparate, and altogether disorganized “group” of pirates can be accused of moving that profit needle in the red simply by blocking ads, etc when this intrepid bunch of audiophiles’ve been doing much more, and passionately, for over 30 years…

“Pirating” for your own use is far more economical than making/burning copies for others, and the latter is far easier to prosecute, for several reasons.

Almost there, though the vast majority of common digital “piracy” is for personal use, and generates a barely non-zero amount of money for said “pirates”. You had it in the first bit, but the second could use some work. You’ll get there! 🤘🏼

If it’s not a saleable good/product, it doesn’t qualify as theft when someone acquires it from a different source than one’s “store”, etc.

In a similar vein, the vast majority of “craft distillers” do nothing other than water down (aka “proofing”) the bulk distillate they’d purchased from Jack Daniels, et al, and the simple fact that doing so makes it a saleable product enables them to claim “Produced and bottled in (location)”, and people just slurp it down… 🤷🏼‍♂️

Frankly, none of them should. 🤷🏼‍♂️

TBF, every time some corpo fuckstick parrots “theft”, I’m reminded that none of them want any of us to dig into the age-old tradition of wage theft. That’s theft, and what they’re constantly whinging about plainly isn’t.

FWIW, untold numbers of people share their sanitized Steam files for the greater good. Very few, if any, well-known “crackers” purchase all of the games they help do what it says on their tin.

This claim by Denuvo is not just asinine, but proves even further that they’re absolute idiots in their field. 🙄
