I disclose that I can see your activity, bit realistically it’s so I can see how the encoding process is half a world away. They don’t seem to complain about the quality so seems good to go for me.

So imagine a road named VLAN1000 that has assigned lanes. (Native VLAN 1000)

You got 4 lanes:

1 lane for bikes (VLAN 100)

1 for motorcycles (VLAN 200)

1 for cars (VLAN 300)

1 for busses (VLAN 310)

I want to add another lane for trucks so I add

1 for trucks (VLAN 320)

The road is named VLAN1000. The entire road system from the basement to the top floor is called VLAN1000.

I wanted to add VLAN320 as stated above… But I put in a command saying that the road between the basement and the top floor is now called VLAN320.

Now all of the other traffic cannot go to VLAN1000 because the switch no longer has that VLAN. It only has VLAN320.

Might be hard to follow but this is pretty much how I think of it in my mind.

I did the very classic “sw t al v 320” which effectively isolated an entire floor.
