Motd on android feels like a current messenger (but it’s partly made with ai unfortunately). irc really is a credible possibility today

If friendica is interesting to you, you may give a try to (streams) and Forte. They’re evolutions of the friendica and hubzilla codebase, by the same authors, to turn it in a slightly different direction: namely, (streams) is a ActivityPub-centered experience and Forte is ActivityPub-only, both with honestly amazing features still not found elsewhere. They should both be looked at by more people (unfortunately their style is dated)

I see you want to sink me under a lot of points, allow me to do the same:

1. You’d have to be really naive to think that a project contains four AGENTS.md files and pretend AI wasn’t used
2. .editorconfig is, at it says, a config for editors. You can pretty much infer that an editor was used, but you can’t say which. Just like an AGENTS.md indicates an AI was used, or is expected to be used, but you can’t know which one
3. I said this project is AI-oriented, which the phrase you cite conforts.
4. No one here is saying that Claude coded it. I raised the point because I assume AI was used, and this is what the policy talks about
5. “Your promotional post” talks about the post, not the project
6. “If you are promoting a project” talks about you promoting the project, meaning the post, not the project

This is where I disagree 😅 who is welcome in the community really is the decision of the community. The vision that only the good ones can get in is stil the adversarial position I really wish we would all fight. A writers’ guild is useful for fighting against the existing domination, but ultimately what we want is for everyone to be able to write when/what/how they want, while also being able to work at the factory, plow the fields, take care of children and elderly, etc… that is a socialist cooperative.

What we can do now towards this goal: have cooperatives of people who want to “be on the internet”, composed of tech and non-tech people, all making decisions. We’re trying to do something like that with deuxfleurs, it’s hard, but I’m sure it’s the right way !

I see your point and I agree with you, the very beginning was cooperative. But that cooperation happened only between technical users who had the proper knowledge to be part of it. The mindset wasn’t one where everyone was welcome the way they are, but everyone was welcome if they could get up to speed with the technique. I think that is the core problem I have with the way “cooperation” was organized at the time. But you’re right, it wasn’t as adversarial as I had in mind.
