Meanwhile, under the Trump administration, in recent days, racially motivated ICE agents kidnapped a Latino father in front of his children in the middle of the street and fired shots at a car with a 5-year-old child inside.

If this happened in Cuba or any other country hostile to the US, the Western media would broadcast it everywhere nonstop.

Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Fernández de Cossío accused the United States of “intimidating with threats” countries and companies that export or transport fuel to Cuba.

The diplomat stressed that the importation of fuel by Cuban state and private entities is legal under national legislation and international law, as is its transport through international waters.

The statement comes after US authorities announced the seizure in Miami and Houston of 90 shipments of biodiesel, totaling more than two million liters, allegedly destined for Cuba. Washington maintains that the operation violated its federal export laws.

Fernández de Cossío also stated that it is illegal to threaten states or companies with reprisals for participating in these commercial operations and questioned the interception of vessels transporting fuel in international waters.

Federal prosecutors in New York plan to file new charges against Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, for the alleged torture of U.S. citizens who were held in custody by the Venezuelan government during his tenure, according to CNN, citing multiple people familiar with the investigation. The announcement could come as early as Thursday.

The new charges relate to what the U.S. government has described as the wrongful detention of more than a dozen Americans in Venezuelan prisons during the years Maduro led the country. Investigators have also discussed the possibility of charging other individuals for their alleged involvement in the acts of torture.

This is a new height of cynicism.

The U.S, through all those American presidents who’ve come and gone, have killed a whole crowd at Guantanamo and millions more in secret prisons all over the planet, killed/torture lots of Latin American immigrants in ICE sites and Salvador prisons, and yet those American “prisoners”, better called mercenaries(example Jordan Goudreau), came to Venezuelan soil to kill Venezuela’s president, Nicolás Maduro.

There is no law or justice in a Mafia court.

A judge in Ecuador declared 32 crew members of two fishing boats innocent on Wednesday. The boats had been intercepted and destroyed by U.S. military forces in the Pacific Ocean. The individuals, who had been charged with conspiracy, were accused of collaborating with drug trafficking networks. However, the judge concluded that there was insufficient evidence to support the accusations.

“Once the judge reviewed the evidence presented by the prosecution, she determined that it could not be proven that these vessels and this crew had committed any illegal act . There was no crime,” Juan Alvia, the defendants’ lawyer, told the press.

The court ruling benefits eight crew members of the Conquista 2 vessel and 24 crew members of the María Candelaria . Both ships are part of a group of eight fishing vessels sunk between August 28 and September 16 in a joint operation between U.S. military forces and the Ecuadorian government.

Inconsistency in the United States version

According to the version released by the U.S. Southern Command, the vessels acted as floating refueling stations for speedboats involved in drug trafficking to North America. The sailors were preliminarily linked to Los Choneros , an Ecuadorian criminal organization allied with the Sinaloa Cartel and classified as a terrorist group by Washington.

However, the legal representation demonstrated that the Ecuadorian Prosecutor’s Office did not present any official documents or intelligence reports issued by the U.S. government linking the crews to investigations into drug trafficking or fuel smuggling. “These documents simply do not exist,” the lawyer stated.

Ongoing legal proceedings

The initial ruling marks the first firm decision in a series of three legal proceedings involving a total of 88 crew members from five vessels destroyed by U.S. military actions. It is anticipated that the Public Prosecutor’s Office will not appeal the ruling due to a lack of evidence.

The court schedule includes the start of the second trial this Thursday, where the legal status of 46 defendants will be determined. The third trial, involving another 10 sailors and initially scheduled for October 1, has been postponed to October 20 .

An additional group of 70 sea workers belonging to the other three sunken vessels — as well as sailors captured at later dates — were previously released without charges being filed, due to the absence of criminal elements.

Abuse allegations and pending investigations

Following the confirmation of their innocence, the victims are considering requesting the judicial authorities to open a formal investigation to determine responsibility for the destruction of their work tools and for the illegal deprivation of liberty reported during the naval interceptions, before being handed over to the Ecuadorian authorities.

The court ruling coincides with the statement from Human Rights Watch (HRW), which urged the authorities of the United States and Ecuador to make transparent the legal basis for these armed attacks, as well as to open immediate investigations into the abuse allegations made by the crews .

“These people will do anything for money. The laws are put at the service of speculation. Our city and our country are being sold to speculators.”

Maricarmen, who died today at 87, was a victim of state terrorism that evicted her from her lifelong home… surely if her case hadn’t received media attention, she would have died in the street.

Lieutenant General Benjamin Watson, commander of the 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force and the highest-ranking U.S. military official in Okinawa, ordered a series of disciplinary measures following the death of a Japanese citizen, 39, allegedly at the hands of 20-year-old Corporal Devin Jacob Ballard at a hotel in Naha.

Watson announced a total ban on alcohol consumption both on and off the bases for 48 hours, a period of “operational pause” to train all personnel on “standards, discipline, and our responsibilities as members of the Okinawa community.” Military operations were suspended, and personnel were not permitted to leave the bases. Starting Friday, a 30-day curfew will be enforced, requiring personnel to return to their quarters between midnight and 5:00 a.m.

Local police reported that the victim, identified as Anna Yagi, died of asphyxiation after her neck was compressed. Ballard, stationed at Futenma Air Station, was arrested on suspicion of robbery and murder and has denied the charges. Japanese authorities lodged a formal protest with U.S. Ambassador George Glass, and Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi called the incident “unacceptable.”

Eduarda Campopiano (PL-SP), 23, was elected this Sunday as the state representative with the most votes in São Paulo, with 1,956,238 votes—a record for the São Paulo State Legislative Assembly. But her public record includes statements that sparked controversy even before the election.

In May of this year, during an interview on the RedCast podcast, Campopiano claimed that, had it not been for European Christianization, indigenous peoples would be “practicing cannibalism” in Brazil. “Praise God that they colonized us, praise God that they Christianized the indigenous women. Praise God that the far right arrived and told the Indians: ‘Guys, making sacrifices and eating your little brother’s arm isn’t right, burying children alive…’,” she declared.

Campopiano is a digital influencer and describes herself as “the greatest enemy of São Paulo’s feminists.” She was elected city councilor in Praia Grande in 2024 with just over 3,500 votes, and in 2026 she left that position to run for the State Legislature. Her political mentor is Lucas Pavanato (PL), who was elected to the Federal Chamber of Deputies in São Paulo with 3,038,438 votes—the second-highest vote total in the history of the Chamber of Deputies. Both are part of the same cohort of conservative influencers that the Liberal Party propelled into the legislature in these elections.

The Trump administration has relocated an undisclosed number of MQ-9 Reaper drones from Africa to Colombia and Ecuador, signaling a new approach to Latin American cartels, according to U.S. officials cited by The New York Times. The Reapers, known as the “hunter-killers” of the U.S. military, are capable of intercepting electronic communications, detecting heat signatures, and carrying out precision strikes.

The commander of U.S. Southern Command, General Francis Donovan, has stated that the United States plans to expand its operations to include ground attacks and seeks to exert “total systemic pressure” on criminal networks. Ecuador received its first MQ-9A drones in Guayaquil during the last week of September, and Ecuadorian officials confirmed that two are currently operating in its airspace.

Lawyers specializing in conflict law and some lawmakers argue that lethal strikes against alleged drug traffickers constitute illegal extrajudicial killings, since the victims—even if they commit crimes—do not pose a direct threat to the United States. The UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights has documented that, despite the attacks, cocaine remains “widely available and relatively cheap” in the United States, suggesting that the campaign has not affected the flow of drugs.

As context:

Between the 1960s and 1980s, under the pretext of “fighting communism,” the CIA infiltrated Christian movements throughout Africa and the Global South with the mission of steering Christian doctrines away from so-called “liberation theology” (teachings that encouraged people to stand up to corrupt governments and take collective action to improve their lives), because this doctrine was allegedly “communist.”

It funded and facilitated the explosive growth of a completely new form of Christianity, now known as the “prosperity gospel,” and invested millions of dollars to promote it throughout the Global South as part of its Cold War efforts. This new doctrine disregarded any form of collectivism and encouraged people to view their Christian faith and salvation as individualistic matters that could be measured by specific individual outcomes, such as economic “blessings.”

It was the perfect capitalist Trojan horse, because it convinced people to stop thinking of progress as a shared national endeavor and instead view it as an individual responsibility—which meant they didn’t need to organize into pressure groups, political movements, labor unions, student unions, or any other collectivist entity that the U.S. government considered “leftist” or “communist.” It was a resounding success and turned the world’s poorest people—in sub-Saharan Africa—into rabid, money-obsessed capitalists, albeit without capital.

And in case you’re wondering if this means that all the megapastors in Lagos and Abuja are agents of the U.S. government, the answer is simple: do a one-minute Google search and find out where they all earned their degrees in theology or received their training as pastors. There’s your answer.

“I’m sitting at Miami airport, I just arrived from Havana. Later tonight I’ll be giving my mother some medication to help with her dementia, probably Alzheimer’s, which she was diagnosed with in June. I’ve brought a 48-week supply of NeuralCIM, a new medication produced and distributed only in Cuba.”

The American singer-songwriter and activist Ben Grosscup posted it on social media last Thursday, after spending two weeks on the island, interviewing doctors and scientists about how the drug developed by the Center for Molecular Immunology works, and the details of its manufacture and distribution.

“I’ve been trying to understand how Cuba is in such a position to help my family in such a powerful way. This medication holds extraordinary promise for stabilizing, and in many cases improving, cognitive test scores for patients with dementia.”

The artist said his trip confronted him with the “heartbreaking and horrific” ways his government is harming the Cuban people by imposing a brutal economic blockade. “Along the way, I’ve made some incredible friends. Cuba, I love you,” he said.

After her mother’s diagnosis, Grosscup investigated and found that the medications available in the United States do not stop or reverse the progression of this degenerative neurological disease.

At the time, he posted: “I always expected sadness and devastation for families after this diagnosis. But my research this summer on NeuralCIM, a Cuban drug marketed earlier this year, has left me with hope.”

The artist, after learning of the promising results of clinical trials with patients suffering from mild to moderate dementia, showing no side effects, wondered: Why aren’t advances like NeuralCIM being promoted in the US? Why aren’t clinical trials being conducted in the US now, and why aren’t they moving as quickly as possible to make this treatment available to the millions of families suffering today?

“Part of the problem is geopolitics,” he asserted, referring to the devastating effects of the blockade and the measures promoted by the Trump administration. “Entrenched corporate interests are another obstacle to the distribution of NeuralCIM in the US,” he added.

“I have been an activist against the US economic war,” he said, “but I never thought that my own mother’s well-being depended on the ingenuity and hospitality of the nation that my government was trying to destroy.”

“Unlike the U.S. healthcare model, the socialist values at the heart of the Cuban system are about making the population healthier, not enriching a few,” the singer-songwriter noted.

Grosscup added that he has learned a great deal about Cuba in a short time. “I’ve been documenting every step of the process I followed, and I’m eager to share what I know,” he said, expressing his intention to discuss the medication with anyone who contacts him and to offer several talks in the future.

According to its creators, NeuralCIM’s functions include reducing inflammation, promoting the increase of natural neuroprotective substances in the body, and decreasing other substances that are toxic.

The natural progression of Alzheimer’s disease is towards worsening in more than 70% of patients; and the results derived from clinical trials achieved that more than 60% of patients are among the categories of improvement and stability, in terms of orientation, memory, language, ability to plan and execute, and calculation.

In Madrid, after evicting 87-year-old Maricarmen from her lifelong home, today the police mercenaries sent by the PSOE-led government delegation tried to evict a 65-year-old woman with cancer.

The people camped out in Puerta del Sol prevented it and forced the uniformed thugs to retreat, while promised decrees continue to be issued and armies are sent to evict elderly women.

The government of Javier Milei is pushing the Private Property Inviolability Bill through Congress to expedite eviction proceedings. However, official statistics contradict the Executive’s narrative about alleged squatting , showing that two out of every three cases initiated involve tenant families with formal contracts who fell into arrears after the deregulation of the real estate market.

The economic situation is forcing a growing number of workers to allocate more than 50 percent of their monthly income exclusively to rent payments. A study conducted by academic institutions and social organizations revealed that 57 percent of tenant households in the Greater Buenos Aires area exceed this critical threshold of housing expenditure, far surpassing internationally recommended sustainability limits .

Faced with soaring rents and expenses, families have systematically resorted to debt to avoid homelessness. In the Greater Buenos Aires area, 45 percent of rental properties have accumulated debt , while 77 percent of those who took out formal loans in the last year used those funds to cover their monthly household expenses.

This dynamic of taking on debt to maintain housing is categorized by economists as a form of invisible default that masks the vulnerability of the social sector. In provinces like Córdoba and Santa Fe, there are constant increases in claims for unpaid utilities and rent , where workers resort to credit card debt to postpone the formal loss of their individual contracts.

Although the government’s proposed legislation is still under debate in the Chamber of Deputies, expedited eviction procedures are already in use in the capital’s judicial system. In the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, the application of summary eviction procedures went from representing just two percent of cases in 2024 to accounting for 58 percent of all registered cases in 2026.

The repeal of the previous regulatory framework at the end of 2023 left tenants without rent caps against general inflation rates. If the Executive’s initiative is approved, the legal recourse available to vulnerable families will be drastically reduced, increasing the risk of mass evictions for those unable to afford the costs demanded by landlords.

Her gas had been cut off that week, she was without electricity for non-payment, and the day before she hadn’t had enough money to buy food. She died after four days in the hospital, and her lawyer said she asked for help almost every day to pay her bills. Just hours before the official poverty figures were released, the minimum pension covers barely 30% of the basic food basket.

A 79-year-old retiree died after setting herself on fire on the sidewalk in front of the law office of the lawyer who was assisting her. She had spent four days hospitalized with serious burns at the Burn Institute. Before the incident, she asked that her dog , her only companion, be looked after: that same week her gas had been cut off for non-payment , she frequently lost electricity, and the day before she hadn’t had money to buy food .

Mónica Estévez, a lawyer and former provincial deputy who was assisting her, said that the woman came to her office almost every day to ask for help with food or paying her bills , and that in recent weeks she had told her she no longer wanted to live that way. She also said that she is not the only elderly woman who comes to her office saying she can’t afford her expenses.

The economic crisis had also affected her health: according to Estévez, she had stopped regularly buying the medications prescribed by her psychiatrist because she couldn’t afford them . A widow with a daughter who had died in an accident, she lived alone with her collie and was under psychiatric treatment.

The case went viral on social media with an incendiary comparison. It was shared by lawyer and human rights advocate Claudia Cesaroni, who quoted President Javier Milei : “If people couldn’t make ends meet, they would have already died .” The president had said this in May 2024, when a reporter criticized him for the fact that people couldn’t make ends meet. In response to the criticism, he insisted: “If people couldn’t make ends meet, they would be dying in the streets, that’s false.” Days later, at Stanford University, he added: “There will come a time when people will die of hunger. Somehow, they will decide to do something to avoid dying . ”

The numbers don’t support the official narrative either. In September, the minimum pension was $428,633.20 , and with the extraordinary bonus of $70,000 , the total income reaches $498,633.20 . According to the Ombudsman for the Elderly, Eugenio Semino, this minimum pension, received by more than 4 million retirees , covers only 30% of the basic food basket. For a family of four, the total basic food basket in August was $1,605,497, according to INDEC (National Institute of Statistics and Censuses).

The tragedy comes at the worst possible time for the government: this Thursday, the 24th, INDEC will release the poverty figures for the first half of 2026, and all private projections anticipate a decline. The nowcast from Torcuato Di Tella University estimated a poverty rate of 31.3% for March-August (approximately 9.4 million people in urban households ), while the Catholic University of Argentina (UCA) calculated between 31% and 32% , with some suggesting up to 1.7 million newly impoverished individuals . Meanwhile, the 2027 Budget projects that utility rates will cover more than 88% of energy costs, with unsubsidized households paying 94.6% of their electricity bills. For the retired woman from Trenque Lauquen, this adjustment had already arrived: no gas, no electricity, and no money for food.
