The only one of those I saw back in the day was Schuh des Manitu and it was already god awful then. 90% of the jokes are basically “haha gay people funny”. While I don’t think Germans necessarily lack humor, Germany’s most mainstream comedians really don’t help to disprove the stereotype.

News@lemmy.world•Tennessee suspends executions as Christa Pike’s lawyer says failed lethal injection leaves her in critical conditionbyhorse@feddit.org
3 daysThe death penalty is fucking barbaric and the idea that you can come up with a way to humanely kill a person is insane. What kind of psychopath do you have to be to sit down and put to paper an official protocol on how to execute another human being? What kind of psychopath do you have to be to feel you have the right to sentence someone to be executed? And what kind of psychopath do you have to be to partake in carrying out the execution? Psychopaths all around.
To me a everything that’s not part of or made from a part of an animal’s body is vegetarian. So no meat, bones, liver, gelatine etc. I would consider vegetarianism to be first and foremost a diet.
Veganism on the other hand is more like an ideology. It is the belief that no human has the right to exert control over another animal. So obviously a vegetarian diet that also excludes products that are obtained from animals, like eggs, milk, honey, leather, wool, etc. But also being against zoos, pets, working animals (such as police dogs) and other stuff like that. I think though that veganism is an ideology that requires nuance. It’s going to be basically impossible to be a “perfect” vegan and most probably wouldn’t go so far as to reject everything I listed, or would agree that compromises can be made for the greater good (for example I don’t believe police dogs should be a thing, but I wouldn’t want to take away a blind person’s dog and I can’t help but like pets).
tl;dr: If you eat meat or bones sometimes you’re by definition not a vegetarian and probably nobody is actually 100% vegan. It’s perfectly understandable that you’d call yourself a vegetarian to keep it simple, even if it’s only 95% true though. I certainly call myself vegan, even though it’s definitely less than 95% true.

I watched it in German. Did they even bother to translate it?
Bully is definitely mainstream or at least was back then and, sure there are other jokes admittedly (that also weren’t very funny imo). I guess that part just left a particularly bad taste in my mouth. Seeing as Michael Herbig isn’t gay (afaik) it never sat right with me the way gay stereotypes were played for laughs by him. It’s just cheap and unimaginative. Of course humour and taste are subjective, but in my subjective opinion it’s just not funny at all.
