Because not having a DRM solution makes shareholders nervous. So a pointless system that actively makes the game worse, is a positive still.
This isn’t news to anyone that’s paid attention over the years. Nearly every game that had Denuvo and removed it sees a measurable performance bump. Way more than what general optimizations would do, despite what the developer/publisher and the online propaganda repeaters always claim.
And yet even at 2-3x the price, the Chinese EVs provide a better value than the handful of the American options they would compete against.
This SUV would be competing with the likes of a high end EV option like Lucid or Tesla. The Lucid Gravity starts a around $70k, and the Tesla Model X (now discontinued) was around $92k.
The Xiaomi SU7 (the car the Ford CEO has driven since 2024, despite being banned in the US) starts at $32k and clearly is targeted to compete the Porsche Taycan at $112k.
The vehicle in this article has heated floors, a projector, a pop-up roof, a fridge, swiveling seats, and over 1,000 miles of range. Functions western companies consider “luxury” are basically just standard in the Chinese market like heated and ventilated seats. They don’t even bother to advertise things like that because it’s a minimum expectation. There are zero western options that come close to something like that. The options available in the US suck, even taking industry subsidies into account.
So it is.
But not in Australia where the article is about, so it doesn’t really matter anyway for the actual discussion at hand.
Maybe you’re right, don’t really care because it’s not very relevant to the article. I looked up Australia which is where this article is about, and Tesla is based on the US… and 15-16 is the case in both places, so thats all that really matters for the discussion.
I made the assumption about it being more common based on verifying the place the article is about and my own experience when traveling internationally.
You realize the article is about Australia right? Clearly you didn’t even bother to read it since it mentions Sydney in the first paragraph.
If you‘re a minor with a driving license your parent should either be by your side or you know what you‘re doing since you have a drivers license.
Are you seriously suggesting that teenagers are just going to do what they’re told? The one thing teenagers are famous for NOT doing. Just because their parents might know they’re out driving, that doesn’t actually prevent teenagers from doing stupid shit.
You also do realize that you don’t have to be 18 to get a driver’s license right? The almost universal standard around the world is between 15 and 16 years old, including in the US where Tesla is based, and Australia where this article is from.

I was thinking along the lines of wondering why a single player game would need anti-cheat.
Required online check-ins and similar were a thing before Denuvo came on the scene, so I didn’t even consider that aspect. Especially since the online portion of Denuvo is secondary to the encryption crap.
