27B dense was a good size for 3.8, but I’m guessing they’re going to add a few B parameters in order to make it noticeably better.

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•Steam Frame updates: People in the reservation queue should be able to see if they're getting their frame this year or next.byffhein@lemmy.world
1 dayThe FAQ says the waitlist is ordered, only the initial sign-up period was unordered.
What if I don’t sign up before September 17th at 10 a.m. Pacific? After the one-time randomization at that time, anyone who signs up will be automatically added to the back of the waitlist.
I received an email that I’m on the waitlist, what does that mean? It means that when we did the one-time randomization of the reservation queue, your place in line ended up beyond the number of Steam Frame units available to reserve. As we work our way through the queue, some customers may cancel their reservations. If that happens, you may be moved up in the reservation queue, and you’ll be notified via email that you have a reservation after all. But if not, nothing about your position in the waitlist changes, and any future production runs of Steam Frames will be offered to customers in the order they’re on the waitlist.

2 daysSad to be in 2027 group, but at least I won’t get my hopes up every time I see the new email notification.

The first speech recognition was introduced 1952, while AI was established as a field of research in 1956, so you are technically correct :) Back when I studied computer science at university, both speech and image recognition was considered AI, but I assume you’re thinking about more recent AI technologies. According to the Computer History Museum it was only using deep neural networks that computers finally could match the accuracy of a human, so pre-AI tools were definitely much less accurate.
The gitlab repo appears to be a dump of random small .c programs and different .tar.gz archives. The download link OP provided is the source.

24 daysSame here, EU and 256GB version. Have not seen anyone anywhere saying they won the lottery yet.

Well, it’s just a guess. But also Gemma4 increased to 31B, so I think there’s a possibility that Qwen does the same.
