if you’re willing to lie why even bother with that, just make up the results wholesale. Polling companies don’t because their entire business relies on their reputation.

1000 people is enough to get a good estimate of opinion providing it is sampled well. Its one of the counter intuitive results of statistics that a few thousand opinions is enough to get a small percent margin of the average opinions of the sampled population no matter its size. The trouble with polling is that “average opinion of people who answer polls when asked” is not “average opinion of the group that you want to represent”, the whole art of polling is in finding the mapping between those two groups. But that isn’t helped by polling 10 or 100 thousand people instead of 1000.

Well done you, so am I as it happens, but that doesnt change that the vast majority of LLMs are running on Nvidia cards so they still would be suppressing demand for their own product. talking about subscription fees is just nonsensical here, hugging face is a mirror to host other people’s weights, if they started charging people to just download (as opposed to running models, which they already seem to have a decent business for) people would like choose to host their weights elsewhere.

Those go against pro-corporate values (at least the ones that they outwardly want to show). Currently your only choice are let the corporations pick what is acceptable for you, or have an anything goes model and take responsibility for yourself.

Why would Nvidia want to ban people from downloading things that need their products to run? They dont even run the risk of reputational damage from other people running scary uncensored models on their own hardware.
