Comradeship // Freechat@lemmygrad.ml•is this a safe place to say that many people hate the STEM subjects because teachers in these fields are often times very aggressive and abusivebyVoOe704c@lemmygrad.ml
9 daysYea this is a common stereotype. Obviously I can only speak from my own experience in STEM, but the best teachers have generally been the professors who knew the material best, i.e. the most respected experts in their field.
The worst teachers were the professors who had to give a topic/course in a field or sub-field which werent their primary interest.

9 daysThis seems a bit too generalized to draw any conclusions. Of all the teachers I’ve had issues with, there has been no clear category of subjects they taught. On the contrary, I don’t think I’ve ever had an issue with a STEM teacher.
Having also worked as a teacher for 12-15 year olds and I can tell you that of all the reasons teenagers “hated” STEM subjects, I don’t think me or my colleagues were the primary ones.

BBC is a bit like USAID which has a negative correlation with the adherence of human rights in the states they operate in.

Well, they do have been warning people to stay away from that airport. But civilian ‘mass casualty events’ are the imperialists M.O, so I hope more details emerge. As a general rule, whenever there is a false-flag, suspiciously little details emerge after the fact. See Nordstream, the random rocket towards the UK Indian ocean base (diego garcia I think its called?), or others in history. IF this truly is Ansarallah, I expect all details will be published and that the media will make a big fuzz. If we only get the media fuzz however…thats usually the sign.
Also I imagine this will generate 1000% more attention than the Saudi airstrike on the maternityward some days ago.
Comradeship // Freechat@lemmygrad.ml•Should Marxist-Leninists fight toward the dismantling of the “welfare state”?byVoOe704c@lemmygrad.ml
15 daysThe State guaranteeing employment is still not enough, because the Keynesian systems post ww2 tried just that and began to creak and break in the 1970s leading to the neoliberal counter-reform faction winning power.
Oh totally, a welfare state cannot function within capitalism long term regardless. I kind of clumsily tried to make the point that it is at least manageable during periods of industrialization and growth, because there are jobs. Obviously under capitalism this will never happen long term.
It /should/ be easy to refute but whether or not we have the right conditions to have our ideas take hold is another thing entirely.
Most people think only of the spectrum represented in the parliament. So when they think “communists” or “leftists” they think of whatever succdem party the media is currently calling “far-left”, and then nothing else. So we are already set back enormously because they keep making things worse (and moving to the right). In the minds of most people, they have to choose between eroding welfare services + higher taxes vs eroding welfare services + lower taxes, and obviously most are gonna choose the latter.

15 daysWhy would workers trust you if you are actively trying to make their lives worse and take away their hard won rights and social safety nets?
I don’t know, seems to work just fine for the bourgeois in the Nordics. Write a book about how you think “the welfare state = apartheid” and say that it is your life’s mission to dismantle it, and you’ll become prime minister with a majority government (Sweden).
To me it seems the issues of the welfare state stem from de-industrialisation and the ever so common economic crises arising from capitalism. A welfare state cannot function in capitalism unless there is also continuous job creation. It makes no sense that an ever decreasing portion of the working population needs to fund the income of others who want to work but cannot, because the jobs don’t exist. The state should handout “welfare” insofar that it guarantees you a right to work. Otherwise it will just spiral as it does now in the Nordics: no jobs --> more people utilizing the social safety net --> more strain on the welfare state --> higher taxes for the workers --> etc.

NOTE: At least 4 Pakistani military aircraft landed at Aden Airport today
Wtf are they doing in Yemen at all. No way Pakistan starts airstriking too.

Take the job and learn. As individuals the best we can do is to develop our skills and understanding of the world. I would probably say no to working for the MIC but otherwise it is just isolationism and it will do you no good. We need smart, educated and skilled comrades in all fields, I hope you have a good time and learn a lot!
