fundamentally the answer is “someone has to implement it”

I don’t think the other answers here are tremendously sensible, yeah sure you can’t technically literally move accounts complete with posts and everything, but like come on people it’s absolutely technically feasible to have a migration feature that is mostly satisfactory… The way mastodon does it is a hell of a lot better than nothing.
