  • Hi fellow dreamers.

    “Rigged”.

Any not been? At least since the diebold [non-verifiable, non-auditable, proprietary] voting machine scandal that we never mended. At least since the hanging chads. At least since straight after Kennedy. At least since the start of gerrymandering. At least since the start of “the electoral college”. At least since it was only rich land owners (despite apparently winning some hard fought “civil rights” advances). At least since there’s been “lobbying” (legalised bribery). At least si…

… The list of issues to mend, is long, before can start to entertain the idea of even a possibility of a not-rigged election.

And so the not-even-wrong partisan groupthink divisive thing… just pulls more wool over our eyes. We’ve much to mend.

And it’s not like it’s just some passive flotsam needed actively tidied up. There are vast perverse incentives for the crooks to keep their puppet-politicians to placate us by; to distract us by; to divide and conquer us by, while ever the rich and special interest groups get their wants, and the rest of us, null effect.

Like the 2014 Princeton study concluded, and depicted well in its graphs

    https://preview.redd.it/can-i-ask-why-everyone-forgot-this-2014-study-showing-v0-c158uonn3fdf1.jpg?width=1493&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5934677a1ef04c5804fb03aa167af94e6ea7c764

… Not a democracy. An Oligarchy. Probably should mend that. Probably should stop falling for their lies. Even just in that initial intent, to head mendwards, even though we may not yet know how. Probably better we head towards each our say being contributed to what’s implemented, than falling for another corporate state terror ploy [(or placatium false-promise ploy)] to keep their power imbalance in place, keeping us infighting among ourselves, the politically disempowered, while they [the “economic elites”] carry on getting what they want and not getting what they don’t want…

I can’t promise you all the things you want. ~*booing ensues, tomatoes get thrown*~ Okay okay, I can promise you all the things you want…

Imagine we all stop falling for it. No more purple-party oligarch-con. A chance at real democracy, really getting the will of the people implemented. Not just flatline null effect, like the Princeton study revealed. We could mend this, then what we say we want in the system would actually have meaning and real world effects. Imagine…

  • I’m not sure if this is trolling, or some kind of philosophical stumble (like some kind of naive realism ~ hence oblivious to interpretation), or even a personality malady (like NPD, impeding capacity for introspection).

To assert there’s nothing to interpret… is a difficult stance to approach, having already concluded, contrary to present evidence, as if there’s so clearly only one interpretation, so much obliviously so, like the fish asking “what’s water?”, that there’s no interpretation at all…

And so, having dodged answering the question, it’s difficult to know how to proceed.

Also further made difficult by you not answering the question asked about the substance of the question, but answering something entirely different. I wondered (left it open to answer, did not pose it as a direct question), how you interpreted what you just responded to…

    as in

“What’s the hardest Linux distro you’ve tried?” can be interpreted many ways

I was wondering how you interpreted that line. Perchance that may lead to clarification as to what led you to simply repeat

    it’s a documentation

re-asserting your position, seemed to be missing that this can be, and (evidently through the other comments) has been, interpreted many ways. So I still wonder, how did you interpret that line that restated that the question can be interpreted many ways?

As for your assertion itself, that you’ve double down on, as if there can be no other interpretation… Have you heard of a no-true Scotsman fallacy? The lines are blurred as to what defines a distro, even without someone offering reassurance to interpret a question about distros freely. Would you baulk similarly at various ilk of meta distros and installation scripts and other instructions? If the scripts that fetch the programs that comprise your operating system get from upstream sources, are they no longer a distro either? Where is the line for you, since you exclude LFS? And, we’re all to just agree with your decree? Given thus far^, not my pope of FOSS. Heh.

If I build a car from instructions, then I have that car. … Now you’ve got me hankering after a Caterham again. Heh.

I wonder also how, in your world view, distros based on LFS are assessed. Like on distrowatch, they too draw the distinction, between being Independent, and LFS based.

And still, I am very intrigued by your world view, how you square this away…

I just saw a DistroTube video with this question. Quite a thought provoking question [for this seasoned distroholic at least].

“What’s the hardest Linux distro you’ve tried?” can be interpreted many ways, and I wonder what kinds of answers we’ll get.

Especially these days, with much change underfoot and newer users having a different distrosphere to explore…

What’s the hardest Linux distro you’ve tried?

  • Better than I could do currently, I bet (without trying), but a couple points come to mind, from art college a quarter a century ago…

Unless going for a kind of denisovan look, could do with another line or two higher from eyes to top of head. Eyes in the middle, and then account for hair too.

For getting eyes looking female, I try imagine the middle of the outer upper corner being tugged out a little. Mostly got this here, but could be more pronounced.

    Looking good. Got soul.

Made this on a whim, while commenting on that other recent Arch related post… the tamagochi one.

It’s been years since I actually used Arch. I hear much has changed (~ like it has an easy installer now?). Does it still itch to faceplant from time to time, needing rescue or abandon? Does Arch still faceplant itself?

How long have you managed to keep an arch going? How many times needing rescued back to being bootable in that duration?

[And would have posted this from that account, but that lemmy.wtf instance is tempramental, currently 504ing again. Glad I recently made this alt account so I can still post this and carry on with life.]
