• Omg this is awesome, I should do that to run ps5 exclusives such as.

    Checks notes

    The Wolverine game.

Edit: /s since some people might have not got that

I was just saying how I wouldn’t even pirate that game. It’s sad because I’m a huge Wolverine fan, but it looks like a trash game.

Loved all three Insomniac Spider-Man games. Platinum’s all three, but I’m not shelling out $70 for Wolverine.

  • I can’t comment on ModdedWarfare’s channel since I don’t have a YouTube account, but my PS5 is still on 4.03.

Most of the comments on his videos are those of people who are never really patient enough for these types of things, so I wish I could talk to someone who has a low firmware like myself and them let me know if I need to stay on 4.03 for any future exploits, or is it time to get the latest firmware that can use these new exploits?

      • Wow.

I did and didn’t see anything pertaining to whether or not someone SHOULD update from an older firmware.

You might be new to the jailbreaking scene, so let me explain. There are certain firmwares that are going to be more capable than others. This also means that there are firmwares that developers will focus on more than the newest one, either because their own machine is a specific firmware or because that’s where most of the other tools for jailbreaking are still being worked on.

Imagine making a comment about wanting to talk to someone about something because you want THEIR input, then you come in and point to the fucking article that doesn’t have anything about what I am asking about.

        Dickhead.

        • To be fair 4.03 isn’t even supported firmware. It’s 7.0-13.6 as the GitHub page states. I have no personal experience to share about it as I don’t own a ps5 though, wish you luck jailbreaking ur unit! Always a bit of a nerve wrecking experience especially the first time with a specific device.

          • Thanks for being kind, at the very least!

It’s already been jailbroken, but certain firmwares will get more love and attention in the scene. Kstuff, shadowmount, etc. are all important things to keep in mind when thinking about updating to newer firmwares. I have access to more jailbreaks because of the low firmware.

Like, in another year, there might be another vulnerability found in older firmwares like mine that could enable a full untethered jailbreak. That’s what I would LOVE to see. It would just be nice to have an actual conversation with someone about it is all I was saying.

            Thanks again, seriously. :-]

        • And again, read the article that links directly to THE FUCKING RELEASE NOTES that literally outline what firmware it works on.

          Lazy ass.

  • Sony: digital only

    hackers: sure why not

Sony: wait no not like that

Too many words, title should be, “PS5 slammed by hacking scene”.

  • I’m on firmware 13.6 but almost updated a week ago.

Now I just have to prevent my 9 year old son from updating it when playing Roblox and it might one day become my Linux gaming PC instead of buying a pre-built when prices go down.

Let’s hope the new exploit helps the PS5 Linux scene.

    • The modded warfare YouTube channel has a tutorial on how to block updates on any firmware.

You’ll probably want to bookmark his channel if you’re planning on hacking your PS5.

    • 22 hours

You can probably block the PS5 from reaching the update servers to be safe

        • I’m not rooting for Roblox but hés playing some interesting games on it and it now lead him to try some management games on Steam now.

I have a way better feeling about Roblox than about Fortnite where he used his allowance to get skins and other stuff.

I’m not saying you don’t have predators and stupid games on Roblox, but it’s not just this.

        • Probably still easier to just adjust the DNS settings to block Sony servers. Do this under your network DNS setting on your ps5.

  • Suddenly glad I’ve had no desire to play ps5 in ages.

I should look and see if theres better options for ps4, as well, since mine is currently in need of repair anyway…

Edit: I’m confused as to why this is getting downvoted? I don’t care about internet points, but I do care about being misunderstood. I’m glad because mine should be out of date enough to use this hack, and I should look to see if there’s a similar one for ps4 as long as it needs repair anyway?

You could look into who down voted you and ask them. Could be quite interesting.

      • I think that ability is a instance to instance type of thing. I cannot see who’s downvoting on the .world instance.

    • 15 hours

…it seems someone took it as a personal insult that you haven’t wanted to play PS5 games for an indeterminate time period prior to the hack.

Sometimes the internet just be that way.

  • This sounds really fucking cool! Sadly I have no idea how to use / do any of it. What do I need to learn to be able to implement something like this?

    • Not much TBH, it requires blocking Sony servers using DNS (stoping automatic updates). Then visting a specific website to load the exploits.

After the exploit is loaded your can install any custom packages as you like.
