• Don’t care. Go and vote. It only matters once the polling closes. Then you can say whatever you want.

    • I won’t go and vote.

In a place like Texas, it can feel pointless to go in vote if R’s are going to sweep anyways. Good news like this can be used as a motivator to show people this election could be different.

People in line were talking about how busy it was (and how much busier it was yesterday). I asked someone who voted yesterday in a more suburb/rural area and they said there was practically no line there. So seems to match the optimism of this.

      • Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you (assuming you’re a Texan capable of voting)

This “it doesn’t matter” line is complete defeatist bullshit. You can’t gerrymander state office. Hinojosa can oust governor hot wheels if we get out there. Talarico has a good shot of people vote.

Trump won because of the nearly 1/3 of voters who “it can feel pointless”.

I’m Texan, I’m progressive and you can be damn sure I’m voting.

        • (assuming you’re a Texan capable of voting)

Given I have already voted (as referenced when I mentioned being in the voting line), I’m not capable of voting anymore in this election. I did have a worker comment that my photo on my ID doesn’t look like me despite being from less than 2 years ago, but they didn’t make it a problem.

This “it doesn’t matter” line is complete defeatist bullshit.

Agreed. That’s what I was saying in my comment. That this type of news should be used to insist on the importance rather than just dismissing it.

          • Then why did you start with “I won’t go and vote”?

From the beginning, that frames your comment as someone who’s anti-voting explaining why it’s pointless, which we already have too much of around here.

So the rest of your comment sounded confusing, almost like you went to the polls to talk with people in line but not cast a vote yourself.

If you already voted, good. But try to be clearer when you’re encouraging people to vote so they don’t think you’re saying the opposite.

            • Then why did you start with “I won’t go and vote”?

As part of the joke that was followed up by implying I won’t because I already did. People shouldn’t wait if they’re able to vote early. Anyways, apparently the punchline fell flat.

From the beginning, that frames your comment as someone who’s anti-voting explaining why it’s pointless

“Good news like this can be used as a motivator to show people this election could be different”? Not sure how this could possibly be anything other than encouraging people to vote.

So the rest of your comment sounded confusing, almost like you went to the polls to talk with people in line but not cast a vote yourself.

Only reason I’d have done that is if they denied my vote.

              Thanks for the explanation!

              • Yeah, the punchline wasn’t very clear. And if the downvotes are any indication, I’m not the only one who read it that way.

It happens though, it’s a learning experience, we can all move on without tripping each other up, because ultimately we seem to be on the same side here

At least you have no problem admitting you are part of the problem.

      • Using Texas is not the example you think it is. Imaging living in Missouri and reading this, don’t be ridiculous.

Don’t get complacent. “Hillary is going to win by a landslide!” caused the 2016 election to go the other way. Well, one of the causes but anyway, go vote.

    • Considering even Democratic people had to hold their nose to vote for her it was a lot more than complacency.

True story. I was so sure Trump would lose, I voted 3rd party for the first time.

        • I am sorry to hear that. Please keep in mind that third parties in a dominate two party winner takes all system are always used as a spoiler vote to manipulate people.

We have an insanely bad system of representation. As designed.

    • Ouija… Tell my dad I said hello… Don’t forget that “o” its important, he won’t get it if you forget the o.

  • No matter what hell awaits us after this election, it’s worth it to see Texas blue.

  • big early voter turnout almost always favor democrat/liberal candidates.

This doesnt bode well for texas republicans

  • Great, a record number of ballots to declare invalid for some arbitrary reason.
