We all knew shit was gonna hit the fan when Trump won his second term, but this, I don’t think anyone saw this coming.

What an odd choice to put in a screenshot of text that is impossible to read.
stinkytofuisgood@lemmy.caEnglish
3 daysDon’t worry, 56% of American adults read at the equivalent of a 6th grade level. Facts are facts! They won’t notice a difference.
- 3 days
Scaling artefact, not much I can do I’m afraid. You can zoom in to the image though and it should be legible, I’d hardly call it impossible.
- 2 days
I did, but I can only make the screenshot as large as will fit in the panel.
Malica@lemmy.zipEnglish
4 daysI did. Lots of people did. Remember when we called him Hitler? That wasn’t for no reason.
- Strawberry@lemmy.blahaj.zoneEnglish3 days
If he can stream murder on twitch, why can’t i stream myself getting eaten out
- 3 days
If you write “money that could be spent to improve the citizens’ life” in Sharpie above your ass and the person eating you out wears a toupee and a red tie you could pass it as performance art.

I’m wondering how I would contort myself so that’s visible on camera
DupaCycki@lemmy.worldEnglish
4 daysI don’t think anyone saw this coming.
Personally I saw a lot of this coming before his first term ended.
This is mostly because I was still in high school back then. If I was older, I’m guessing I would have seen it coming even as far back as 1800s.
It was never really hidden or anything. Pretty much all you had to do was pay attention. And get a little lucky to avoid getting completely brainwashed, I guess.
- FatVegan@leminal.spaceEnglish4 days
The only thing that was unexpected for me was that they elected him Twice tbh. But then again, it’s America, so i guess that one is on me
- ɔiƚoxɘup@infosec.pubEnglish2 days
There’s statistical data that suggests that the last election was manipulated.
No surprise.
I’ve been expecting something like this since Obama left office, honestly, and it’s really a real-time demonstration at how the political doors swing both ways, and by that I mean we had Obama and then Trump, biden almost doesn’t count because he’s practically a Republican anyway, but then we had Trump again, and after that the swing, the door’s gonna swing real hard the other way. I’m concerned for what will happen next.
- ArmchairAce1944@lemmy.caEnglish4 days
Trump executed more people than any president except for FDR. And FDR served 3 full terms and a large number of those executed were Nazi saboteurs during ww2.
Trump executed more people in his last 6 months in office than all post ww2 presidents combined I believe.
- 3 days
Trump would execute people because they didn’t grovel enough at his feet.
DupaCycki@lemmy.worldEnglish
4 daysI mean, yeah.
What I’m saying is that the current state of the US was foreseeable back in the 1800s, not that it’s been constantly in place since the 1800s.
Although a lot of the current issues Americans face have always been there. Just to lesser degrees, on smaller scales, and often externalized.
- 4 days
Nope, I saw much worse coming. Barbarity of the sentence aside, he’s still convicted and sentenced to die.
I honestly thought by this point we’d be executing political dissidents on live TV.
ZDL@lazysoci.alEnglish
4 daysGive them time. They have two more years to go.
I’m interested in what they’re going to use as their Reichstag Fire.
ZDL@lazysoci.alEnglish
2 daysSure he is. We can see him leaving in real time. Those bruises on his hands? Those cankles? His weird way of standing? His inability to walk properly? The very obvious signs of increasing dementia?
He’s dying before our eyes.
- nilloc@discuss.tchncs.deEnglish2 days
If he wast such a narcissist, he’d probably be putting don jr in power now. But I don’t know if the cult will fall for that.
- ɔiƚoxɘup@infosec.pubEnglish2 days
So when he’s dead what, we get JD vans for another 10 years or 20, or however many they decide they’re gonna stay in office?
Hopefully you’re right, and it ends with him, but I don’t think so.
ZDL@lazysoci.alEnglish
2 daysI didn’t say “it” ends with him. I said he’s ending.
Vance won’t get the crazed following that Trump got, though. They’ll have to find someone else besides the couch fucker.
- 5 hours
Vance is singularly unlikable. The party will never unite behind him the same way they have The Orange Moron.
- ɔiƚoxɘup@infosec.pubEnglish2 days
Sorry, you’re right.
Him, not it.
Honestly I think we’ll be taken out by a superpower before 29. Hope I’m wrong though.
ZDL@lazysoci.alEnglish
2 daysThe only superpower left doesn’t really tend to “take out” opposition. It just outlasts the everloving fuck out of it.
The USA will happily take itself out in as slow and painful a way as possible until it effectively dissolves.
- Tiresia@slrpnk.netEnglish4 days
After the midterms get rigged (ICE at polling stations, a multinational mercenary group at USPS warehouses, Trump supporters in election certification offices, etc.), some leftist accelerationist expecting to get killed anyway will probably provide a Reichstag Fire. The Trump administration will have national security agencies look the other way like the Bush administration did with the warnings about 9/11, and voilá, the current amount of surveillance will “be insufficient to stop the threat from within”.
As for the specific terrorist attack they’ll let slip through the net - I don’t know. Maybe let the white house get bombed so all of it will need to be rebuilt in a grander style. Maybe let the VP get assassinated so some unelected billionaire puppet can take his place and take over when Trump croaks. Maybe there are few enough terrorists that they’ll let most plans through, or maybe they’ll do a false flag to have full control.

We could start considering that urban planning in America has always been aimed at making protesting almost impossible. That and most people being one paycheck away from homelessness.

Bread and circuses, people don’t want to risk anything for change. Revolution isn’t meant to be safe, it’s meant to make a better future.

3 daysAt this point French children are showing Americans how better to fight government.
I’ve got huge Fremdscham from watching Americans hold their quarterly “No Kings” outdoor barbecue party oh yeah and a little protesting too when comparing them, and I can’t stress this enough!, to French children.
Chezus9247@lemmy.worldEnglish
4 daysYeah, you can’t make this shit up. I feel sorry for all the normal Americans.
Prior_Industry@lemmy.worldEnglish
3 daysThe US is also trying to export their madness to the rest of the world. I feel sorry for us normal Europeans that might get our own right wing loons thanks to America not being able to contain theirs.
- MountainVeil@slrpnk.netEnglish3 days
Fascism finds fertile ground in wealth inequality and rural stagnation caused by our economic system. It’s easy to blame the US but it’s a global issue.
Prior_Industry@lemmy.worldEnglish
3 daysIt is and you have to have the fertile land to get something to grow for sure.
The difference in this brave new era is Musk, Vance, Rubio etc are happy to turn up and say their bullshit to our faces, openly promote and fund it etc. There is no operating in the shadows anymore and they are using the levers of the US government to kneecap their former allies due to how over integrated we became.
Certainly it’s better that we all realise where the US is now and where it’s heading. Hopefully the rest of us can change course.
ZDL@lazysoci.alEnglish
4 daysI don’t. They decided to sleepwalk their way into this. I knew what was coming for the USA in a single visit to Houston in 1999. I could hear the jackboots marching in lockstep from just around the corner down the block. Americans of my acquaintance, when I expressed that nervousness, told me I was being “alarmist” … and kept telling me that as the post-9/11 phase started with the not even slightly ominous-sounding “Department of Homeland Security”, the “PATRIOT Act”, the explosion of racism when a black president was elected, the whole Tea Party fiasco, etc. etc. etc.
Now the same people who went for a nice stroll in their sleep are waking up to what they let grow all around them.

As an American… you’re right. It’s been hell living my life here in a lot of ways because the vast majority of people here are basically zombies. I’m honestly just rooting for us to fail at this point, and it’s coming up rapidly. The inflation, debt, and unchecked fraud of Wall Street will get us in the end. I’d be surprised if we didn’t have a fairly major economic crash within the next 10 years.

It’s astonishing how large can Americans get their asses stretched.
