• also it has 0 cosponsors, is stuck in committee, mike johnson sent everyone home so they couldn’t vote on hegseth’s impeachment, and issa is retiring at the end of the year… so it’s pretty moot.

  • “Foreign websites pirating American movies, TV shows, art, and books steal tens of billions of dollars from the US economy each year,” Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.) said at the time.

How do i steal money you not have? Please tell me, i need to steal 10 billion from myself.

I regret to inform everyone that my copy of QBittorrent escaped its sandbox last night and downloaded a whole bunch of content owned by major corporations, and then my copy of Jellyfin broke containment and added those unfortunately-downloaded media files to its various libraries. I’m conducting an internal investigation to figure out how this happened, which will involve consuming these media files until the answers become apparent. Thank you for your cooperation during this trying time.

  • Issa argued that online piracy helps fund terrorist groups and other criminal networks.

Gotta play the "Everything I don’t like is ‘terrrorism’. " card, naturally. I wonder if it hurts when you have the collective hand of media conglomerates shoved up your ass like a sock puppet.

Couldn’t people circumvent that by not hosting piracy sites in that country and by using a VPN based outside the imperial core?

  • Oh no, not DNS, however will I get to my desired sites?? DNS isn’t the only way. It’s just the most obvious or easiest, but we’ll let them keep thinking that 😆

      • DNS is like a post office or delivery company. They all have databases of who lives where so they can match a home address to a name.

DNS isn’t required per se, you can “deliver” traffic directly or through another delivery service… If “https://website.com/” has a domain address of 111.222.33.44, you could also just type that into your browser URL bar like https://111.222.33.44/ and DNS isn’t (or at least shouldn’t be) touched.

  • Oh no! I might have to switch my VPN to a server in a different country! That could take nearly half a minute!

So the expensive infrastructure for DPI that that takes, who’s going to pay for that? And just where are you going to buy it? China?

  • Maybe the bill will get an amendment. Maybe a 2nd amendment is required.
