Why the fuck is that a headline. That means nothing. Its not newsworthy in the slightest. If he said the opposite, then that’d be a headline.

Americans should either get accustomed to budget is being Trump’s private fund or start a revolution.

They need a national shutdown. But that might mean no social media for a while… so, yah, no.
Can’t revolt. Work weekdays and got soccer on Saturday. Maybe after church for a few hours on Sunday.

a few hours on Sunday
Better than nothing. Can combine with picnic to add some fun to process.
That’s just a No Kings rally, and we’ve seen how effective those are.

I am in Spain right now on a trip planned months ago. Since I’ve been here there’s been a sit in occupation in one of the main squares, multiple marches for housing costs, a pro Palestine march, and a pro Ukraine march. At the same time, there’ve been marches on multiple other Spanish cities including one that breached a housing convention, there’s protests in France over education (where a Nazi got severally beaten :)), and protests in Germany over militarization.
In the US? Well we have one numbered and scheduled in 2 weeks, just like a movie release!

That’s just a No Kings rally, and we’ve seen how effective those are.
To be effective they would have had to happen more often, and for longer periods of time and with a helluva lot more people.
At best, the “no kings” rallies were a somewhat good first step. But they didn’t follow through with anything after that.

No Kings was never intended to have any follow-through. I check the website periodically and it’s almost never updated until the next big rally is coming up. No resources, no sustained effort to strengthen and entrench the resistance, just “Find a rally near you!” every 4-6 months.
I think its only purpose has been to keep liberals minimally activated to vote in the midterms, and that’s it. If it were anything more than that, we’d be seeing more French-style direct action by now.

The People have so much power, but they don’t exercise it. Case in point: ABC/Disney suspended Jimmy Kimmel. Calls for a Disney boycott began spreading rapidly. People specifically urged Disney+ and Hulu subscribers to cancel their subscriptions, with the hashtag #BoycottDisney appearing on social media. The campaign became more prominent, with celebrities and other public figures joining calls to cancel Disney+, Hulu and ESPN. They also said they were canceling Disney trips. Result? Disney announced that Kimmel would return. There it is, right there. That is one example of the power of the people. You don’t like something? Fucking band together!! BOYCOTT, RESIST

Consider it training, experience grinding. Read about other modern revolutions. Here in Ukraine we gave such a buttkick to our president decade ago that he landed in Russian Rostov.

Sounds about right, I know a bunch of weak asses wouldn’t want to chance their deminishing lives for something greater, thryed rather hide as their country burns down and their QoL along with it.

Well, you people better do something. 'Cause you’re on the verge of becoming George Orwell’s 1984

The worst part is that there will never be a political penalty. If Democrats get into power and sue to have it stopped, taxpayers, which include Democrats will have to pay to prosecute and then pay the penalty because it’s the government who lost! Then Democrats won’t do the same advertising so Republicans got the advertising for free.

Yeah, I fully expect the next admin (if we actually get a “next”, that is, and this regime doesn’t just continue indefinitely) to softball any sort of accountability effort and punitive actions because “tHaT wOuLD Be diViSiVE” 😑
Edit: this isn’t a “both sides are just as bad” argument. The fascists are bad. The “opposition party” is manifestly incapable of appropriately dealing with the fascists, which, while not as bad as being outright fascists, effectively enables them and existentially undermines not just the opposition party itself, but (small-d) democratic process in general.
- lIlIlIlIlIlIl@lemmy.worldEnglish3 days
Hey heads up, both sides arguments sound really really fucking stupid
- Reannlegge@lemmy.caEnglish3 days
As much as I want to agree with you I want to say look at Biden and all the stuff he turned back from the first MAGA shit show. What you mean not a dot or tiddel of the old law changed?
- lIlIlIlIlIlIl@lemmy.worldEnglish3 days
Of course Biden couldn’t draft laws on his own. Did Biden’s government control all three branches?
You’d have to completely ignorant of the American system of government to start making those types of absolutely silly claims.
Plus - on top of all that - Republicans are self proclaimed rapists and nazis

Meanwhile Trump is signing blatantly unconstitutional EOs and the courts are like “well… he legally cant do that but we gave the president immunity, so who can stop’em now”
- 0_o7@lemmy.dbzer0.comEnglish2 days
Where does he say he has to draft laws of/on his own?
Calling other people stupid while making up a imaginary scenario to make yourself seem smart is really really fucking stupid.
We see cultists for what they really are. They don’t really care about justice, peace, or morals. The only thing they care about is “defending your team no matter what.”
- Reannlegge@lemmy.caEnglish3 days
I understand all of this but did Biden do anything to try, anything at all?
Trump does something the courts rule it unconstitutional, if his supreme court still says “we have to reluctly agree with the lower courts” he changes a word or two and the thing stays in the courts until they agree.
- lIlIlIlIlIlIl@lemmy.worldEnglish2 days
The senate and house were controlled by whom at the time?
Did you want the Nazis to convict the Nazi? Please explain your comment with the understanding that Biden couldn’t do anything without cooperation from the Nazis
- djsoren19@lemmy.blahaj.zoneEnglish3 days
he barely even fucking investigated Trump though. New laws didn’t need to be fabricated, the govt just needed to hold him accountable for all the laws broken in the first term. Biden’s admin dragged their feet on bringing any consequences for so long that it just became too late.
- lIlIlIlIlIlIl@lemmy.worldEnglish2 days
Did you want the Nazis to vote to convict their Nazi?
I don’t understand your argument, because the US has three branches of government. Please explain how Biden controlled the republican nazi house and senate
- One_Honest_Dude@lemmy.worldEnglish2 days
Prosecuting crimes does not require any voting. The president is in charge of that. He runs the DOJ and enforces the rules. It doesn’t sound like you understand how the government works. Trump broke laws already on the books, the Biden administration failed to hold them to account. Congress is not needed to prosecute crimes.
