• “You see, we wanted to take the games you play on older hardware, and stop you from playing them on older hardware. Get rekt, brokie.” - DeepSilver probably

    • As I clicked on this thread I was literally thinking “Oh geez, are we still going to be able to get the older versions if we don’t have freeon-cooled quantum processors and 32 teraquads of RAM?” I’m glad I’m not alone.

I wonder if they have two version instead like Exodus, so it might be Redux and Redux Whatever. But I do remember that the og version of 2033 is delisted when they release the redux back then.

I like the games but idk why they are calling it “next gen update.” It’s just 4k textures, and adding of DLSS. Not even a mention of FSR.

Hopefully at least they add option for the DLAA, otherwise even DLSS is pointless. The first game is like 17 years old. Probably even my 10 year old laptop can play it in native 4k.

    • I think with “next gen update” they are talking about the generation of consoles after they released the game. Meaning they talk about Playstation 5 and Xbox Series as the next generation, with native support, modern game controller feature support and no backwards compatibility needed. On PC off course its just a “normal” update for us, but with “next gen” features such as DLSS and 4k textures target next gen hardware, from the perspective of the original game launch.

I understand the logic. But from practical point of view of a modern PC players perspective, it sounds laughable to call it next gen. Because most expect from a next gen upgrade to be a Remaster. To their credit, they correctly explained “This is not a full remaster or remake”. I see it as something like Switch 1 games with next gen upgrade to play native on Switch 2 with some enhancements.

    • Why? I mean your reply sounds like you would hate a free upgrade that has enhancements.

        • Why do they keep “remastering” the same games?

Executives need their 13th beach-front property.

        • This is not a Remaster (they even state that in the article). This is a free update with some enhancements, that’s all. They are not remastering the game, they just update to make it work better with modern hardware, especially porting it over to native consoles, so we get the free enhancements on PC too.

  • For PC we have implemented DLSS support

Oh, no word on FSR 3 or 4?
