No judgments
Tbh, I stopped following the MCU after Infinity War, and if what I’ve read about the absolute clusterfuck that is post-Endgame is true, I’m not really inclined to get back into it.

And Guardians vol. 3, and some people really like Loki while other people really dislike Loki.
But I think that’s all.

2 daysYeah, if OP enjoyed Guardians 1-2, and then skipped 3, they really missed out.

The guardians were such good stand alone movies I wish they hadn’t been a part of the MCU and just developed on their own. It was kind of jarring to watch 1 and 2 then come back to 3 with a bunch of plot progression and character development you have to watch unrelated movies to understand
This is literally one of the issues that killed comic books.
People that weren’t super into reading every single comic would be lost on interrelated and changing plot points.
I think it’s hilarious that marvel is literally making the same mistake but this time on a different medium.

22 hoursI thought it worked well before the first Avengers movie… Each hero had their own movie with no real continuity other than the post-credits scene, and then Avengers - and only Avengers - assumed you’d seen the previous ones. The movies were coming out at a reasonable cadence and there was plenty of time to get up to speed. Then they just went off the rails - interconnected continuity even between individual heroes’ movies and a crazy fast release schedule meant you were either a superfan or you were lost.
I ended up just watching them at a rate of 1-2 a week leading up to Endgame to get caught up, but it was just way too much.
- 5 films -> Avengers over a 4 year period was reasonable.
- 12 more films -> Infinity War over a 6 year period was much less reasonable.
- 3 more -> Endgame in 1 year was just silly.
Just went and looked it up, and there were another 16 films leading up to Doomsday over 5 years. They’re just releasing things faster and faster. Who can (or even wants to) keep up with that?

I was about to say, this is what got us the Marvel Implosion in the 90s. Nobody reading the Phoenix Saga in the X-Men wants to see “the story is continued in Avengers #459”, or wants to hunt down 40 different titles to read the entirety of Civil War or whatever.

1 dayYeah, I could honestly watch 3 hours of Rocket just being Rocket and be perfectly happy with the time spent.
I’ve enjoyed most of it
I really like the storytelling and the worlds and fantasy they create
The series are often much better than the movies
all the shows after MCU endgame were just promotions for thier movie promotions , to other movie or show promotions, nothing more.
stand alone movies are so much better than what MCU is doing, i would hate when and if they release a new ghost rider movie. the 1st one with mephisto was so much better(at least the actor). instead they had to tease it in the stereotype of AA people, black lightning or whatever it was called, using sacha baren cohen.
For a while, yeah; Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Black Panther (RIP Chadwick Boseman) are all peak.

A year or so back I decided I was going to catch up. I went back to Iron Man and started rewatching the entire series in release order, at most one a night after everyone else was in bed.
I didn’t even make it through Endgame. I watched up to Endgame, started watching it, paused it, and for all I know, it’s still paused.

2 daysIt was utter garbage for a while, like such bad writing and so obviously formulaic that I’d get pissed off about it. Especially the Dr strange one…I was pissed because i was excited for another dr strange one and it wasn’t even enjoyable. It’s makes no sense, they did nothing with the characters, it was like a whirlwind trailer to set up new overarching plot lines
Part of it might be that my expectations dropped to the floor after that, but I’ve found that after they cancelled everything and course corrected they’ve gradually gotten better. If doomsday is good I’ll probably get invested again, I am excited to see the mutants get involved in the main plot
The spider man series are still good though, aside from lady web…I don’t know what was going on with that

23 hourslol they just straight up jacked something Nicolas Cage said at a panel at Fan Expo Dallas but made it dumber.
He macgyvered an iron man
Brilliant
I actually despised his character, it took me a long time to warm to him
Supacell is amazing! Only started watching it this wk. I tried re watching the x-men movies a month ago… I havent finished that yet, thought i was over super hero stuff. Put on Supacell on Tuesday and I finished it last night. I am actually excited for the nxt season, and i couldn’t care less about any new superhero hollywood ‘cgi wwe’ in fact I havent cared for them for 10 YEARS NOW.

I think super hero “stuff” is similar to sci-fi and westerns in that it has become a genre. And just like the two much older genres it started as the main focus of movies and shows where not much else was required to provide for an exciting event. However as more and more content gets released it will have to evolve into the backdrop or foundation for telling a much bigger story, ones that go beyond simple bad vs good or world invasion/ending crisis.
Westerns and sci-fi eventually figured that out. Some of the best movies and shows in both genres are ones that use them to explore complex themes about humanity at both the micro and macro scale. I think Supacell is on the right track for doing that and hopefully doesn’t fall back in to typical tropes with future seasons.

No, WWE is you go see failed actors and stuntmen, Hollywood is where you see the successful ones.
