    One may not believe, yet not shun those who pray for a god you do not see. A god is an allegory, which may be used, religious or not.

      believing in god and doing what others tell you are two orthogonal things.

      one can perfectly fine believe in god by thinking for oneself and reasoning, or by asking others for advice. and one can be guided by others in meaningful or corrupted ways. these two are not correlated.

    I think this is funny. Squidward is a silly guy.

    That’s said, don’t feel the need to pander to other people’s fantasies. There are lots of people who don’t believe or don’t care. Those can be your friends.

      It’s actually incredible to think about how much we actually accommodate religion as a society. There’s a list of like six very specific delusions we’ve decided are ok and if you make too much noise about it then you are the asshole.

      My policy is that this accomodation ends the second you try to legislate the delusion onto others, at which point I no longer need to be respectful of a personal belief, and am allowed to treat the matter with the same level of objective rigor as anything else.

        Religion isn’t just Christianity and it’s possible to spread propaganda for something you are indifferent to or dislike

          Yes, but the context of this is the seven deadly sins and seven noble virtues, which are based off of Greek philosophy but if they are structured to a religion it’s … Christianity. So in context it’s more than reasonable to point out that I’m not Christian.

          Also, is it propaganda? It’s a funny meme with squid and fish, and squid criticizes everything. Unlike the setting, it ain’t that deep.
