IMO 40 mins is the sweet spot.
It’s long enough for an in dept story, and if there is more to tell then they can stretch it to 50 mins.
If they want to tell a big story, 2 episodes becomes a film, 3 becomes a long film.
And from a watcher’s perspective, it’s a lot easier to watch something that you can finish within an hour including start delays and maybe a snack after.
Drama with 5 episodes, 59 to 71 minutes each is god tier.
