21 daysBro, I’m still haunted by this scene. It has to be one of, if not the saddest scene in a children’s movie ever bro.

Scene of a sentient horse dying in a swamp is a famous part of the never ending story the movie (and the book of course)

it’s funny because in the original film, the tortoise is a boy, but in the czech dubbed version, it’s a girl!

And in the novel (series) the warning is that overindulging in escapist fantasy is a toxic and self destructive behavior that stunts personal growth as children obsess over fiction and grow into adults that ignore the real world in favor of picturing themselves as the protagonist at the center of everything.
Bastion goes from boy hero to betraying Atreyu as he tries to rewrite the story into making himself supreme ruler.
So, obviously the movie makers stripped out all that trash that doesn’t apply to modern life.

Every shod horse is like Jesus in some sense. We nail them to things and to celebrate that we nail these things to our walls, doors and trucks. Except a horse is nailed to (on average less than) four horseshoes and doesn’t even have to die on a horseshoe! Therefore horses are more powerful than Jesus. Just think about it, why do we measure power in horsepower and not jesuspower?

btw there are horseshoes for soft terrain to prevent a horse from sinking. This horse was just inadequately prepared

Snowshoes for horses. Well, that’s a new one. I shouldn’t be surprised, I guess, given that it would definitely come up.

I was about 10 when I first felt like I am missing something and cannot name it. A sort of a seed of depression.
