• Just earlier today I got into a piece of equipment to move it and ended up with a bruised buttock because the seatbelt for the operator seat was already plugged in. I wasn’t looking for this because why would someone do this? At a jobsite no less.

  • I remember when seat belts became mandatory in Germany. People fought tooth and nails for their right to be disfigured and to die in even mild accidents. Psychologically it was an interesting case: Getting “bonded” into the car was seen as a greater danger than being thrown around in a metal and glass environment despite overwhelming contrary proof.

After it became mandatory and could be fined people accepted seat belts, and usage now is roughly 98% in Germany.

Anti-seat belt advocate died by not wearing a seat belt during an accident.

As laws become increasingly strict for seat belts, fewer people will respond positively by buckling up in response to the laws. There seems to be a die-hard group of non-wearers out there who simply do not wish to buckle up no matter what the government does. I belong to this group.
