1 dayCarney is setting-up that Canada be oligarchic-feudalism 2 decades in our future.
That is anti-strategy, no matter how “tactically” brilliant its short-term bottom-line looks.
It can’t be undone.
It puts narcissism, machiavellianism, and sociopathy/psychopathy in charge OF OUR TRANSPORT-HUBS, which is insanity.
Remember when the critical-service Voyageur Bus Lines went & vanished, because concentration-of-wealth-archy decided that Canada ought not have any such thing??
( they were a monopoly: there is no reason they couldn’t be profitable )
Neither ports, nor airports, nor national bus-lines, can be trusted to narcissism/machiavelliamism/sociopathy-psychopathy’s “care”.
That is a strategic fact, & requirement.
Ignoring it is short-termist ncompetence, at best.
Never outsource CORE functions, or you hang your future, in the bargain.
That principle keeps being forgotten by the money-centered/motivated people.
Countries aren’t merely monetary-economies.
Understand that when Mexico “saved money” by letting the drug-cartels take control of their north, they made the territorial-rule irreversible.
Rule of Law can’t get back in.
The same kind of irreversibility happens when you give your national-transportation-system’s keys to highjackers/parasites.
Ask the US citizens what it’s like having city transport-systems which are engineered to NOT EVER work, unlike Toronto’s TTC…
Oh, the incumbents profit from keeping it broken, that is certain…
that isn’t what our countries are for, though.
Never outsource your core, or you have sold your future to parasites, who now own your-future.
🙏

Canada’s airports are a conservatives wet dream, they are heavily user pay pieces of infrastructure. Air transportation across Canada helps everyone, but are insanely expensive to operate. The public is always outraged, so there is no perfect scenario.
I’m not for privatization of complete airports, but parts of them could be.
Legitimately how would everyone operate airports?
