The game is much much more than a murder mystery. It lets you explore and experience a vivid world with rich and troublesome history all while encountering characters which are so varied and well performed that they depict facets of the world you did not know existed.

So the twist at the end ends up being a much smaller component of the larger whole than it would in a normie game with the same basic setting. But in itself it is a complete curveball where the guy ends up being someone who is not only unknown, but also you didn’t know existed and also resides in a place you didn’t know existed. The game uses the Deserter to tie up the narrative, giving you a view of the historical developments that so far has been missing. But I have always wondered what people think of the fact that you cannot deduce the culprit from any clues no matter how you play until the answer is given to you. It didn’t matter much to me for two reasons. The first I have laid out above. The second is I am too stupid to deduce even if it was possible. So what do you folks think of this aspect of the mystery?
